Specification of Letters Fatent.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that 1, THOMAS MANAHAN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Manhattan borough, New York city, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bags, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to means by which a bag can be held closed and which means can be applied easily without plowing or tearing parts of the bag, said bag being made to secure contents against moths, vermin, and other matter. This bag can be made somewhat on the plan of the bag shown in United States Patent No. 498,180, of May 23, 1893, for bag.
This invention is set forth in the following specification and claim and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is an inside view of the bag with its two walls spread open 'to expose the interior. Fig. 2 is a section across the mouth part of the bag when closed. Fig. 3 is an under view of the split tube or look.
The bag comprises flaps A B, with a mouthclosing flap or extension B A sweller or key G is applied under the flap. A slotted tube F is shoved onto the sweller to lock or hold the mouth-closing flap or extension B closed.
To prevent the tube tearing or wrinkling or, as it were, plowing the flap or bag while being shoved along into place, the tube is cut away at the slot end in circular shape to form gaping mouth or end portions. The out portions of the tube are what might be called arcshaped. This gaping circled mouth slides easily onto the bag or the sweller without any wrinkling or plowing up of the paper.
The bag is shown with a back H, secured by fastenings I. Hooks K serve to suspend or support articles in the bag. An apron L is supported by an adhesive and the hooks and the hanger or its fastener I. This apron is formed of or contains insect-repelling material and disinfectant.
Hot or melted naphthalene or the like can be applied, as seen at M, to penetrate the fibers of the bag or wrapper and in repelling vermin.
The article can be suitably placed aside in a drawer or trunk or other locality or suspended, as desired. An eye or ring 0 is provided, which can be suitably pivoted or pintled in a bead of the hanger H.
In forming the bag the edges along the lower part and the outer vertical edges of Fig. l are, as usual, pasted or cemented together to leave only the upper edges or mouth open. This manufacture of bags can be the usual one employed in the art of bag-making.
The various attachments-such as books,
apron, and the like-and the coating M can be applied while the bag is flat or unfinished, as seen in Fig. 1, after which the lower and side edges can be secured together.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A bag provided with an inner apron of disinfecting or moth repelling material and hooks extended through the bag and apron and provided with a hanger and back support.
