AARON SGHLANG, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
GARMENT-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 19, 1909.
Application filed April 2'7, 1908. Serial No. 429,369.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AARON SoHLANo, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Hangers, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to garment hangers, and the object thereof is to provide an improved anti'moth or anti-insect device of this class which may be used in cupboards, wardrobes, closets and other places, and which comprises a receptacle of novel form provided with a hook or similar device for suspending garments or other articles therefrom, and which is adapted to be secured to a wall of a cupboard, wardrobe, closet or similar receptacle, or to a support therein and to be filled with camphor balls or other material designed to destroy moths and other insects, and the walls of which are perforated; and with this and other objects in view the invention consists in a device of the class specified constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts ofmy improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which;
Figure 1 is a front view of my improved garment hanger and showing the same secured to a Wall, Fig. 2 a section on the line 2 -2 of Fig. 1, and ;Fig. 3 a view similar to Fig. 2 but showing a modification.
1n the practice of my invention as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, I provide a substantially semi-spherical receptacle a composed of an outer part a and back part a and said receptacle is provided, in the form of construction shown, with a flange or rim a by which it may be secured to a wall or other support, or in a wardrobe or other storage place.
Formed in the front part a, of the receptacle near its periphery is an opening I) through which moth balls 0 or balls of similar material may be passed, and the front part of the receptacle is also provided with perforations (Z of any preferred size, and any desired number of which may be employed, said perforations being much smaller than the balls 0. The part a of the receptacle is also provided preferably centrally thereof with a hook e from which garments or other articles may be suspended, and when constructed in this manner the receptacle will serve as a garment hanger as will be readily understood.
My invention is not limited to the flange a whereby the receptacle may be secured to a wall or other support, and said receptacle may be secured to or suspended from any suitable support in any desired manner.
The construction shown in Fig. 3 is the same as that shown in Fig. 2 except that the back part a is omitted, and when this form of construction is employed the device must be secured to a wall or other support, and the balls 0 are placed therein after the said device is so secured in position. With either of the forms of construction shown the re ceptacle is secured to a support, or suspended therefrom so that the large aperture 1) will be at the top thereof.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A garment hanger comprising a substantially semi-spherical receptacle provided with a suspending hook, the convex part of the receptacle being provided with perforations and adjacent to the periphery thereof with a large opening through which moth balls or similar material may be passed, said receptacle being also provided with means for securing it to a support.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses this 25th day of April 1908.
AARON SCHLANG.
