No. 784,918. PATENTED MAR. 14, 1905.
M. BUNSICK.
COMBINATION GARMENT.
APPLIO'ATION FILED 00T, ze. 1904.
Patented March 14, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
MEYER BUNSIOK, OF PHOENIX, ARIZONA TERRITORY.
COMBINATION-GARMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 784,918, dated March 14, 1905.` Application filed October 28, 1904. Serial No. 230,350.
To all whom, t may concern:
Be it known that I` MEYER BUNsrCK, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Phoenix, in the county of Maricopa and Territory of Arizona, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combination Garments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to combination or union garments; and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a strong, durable, cleanly, and comfortable negligee suit or single integral garment for male children.
Another object is to provide a garment of this character which can be easily and quickly put on or taken off by a young child and which will permit the greatest freedom of use of his limbs without binding r restricting the child or straining the parts of the garment.
These and other objects are attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of a garment made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same, partially unbuttoned. Fig. 3 is a detail View of the front fly.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the waist portion of the garment, and 2 denotes the trousers portion of the same. The front portion of the garment is made in two sections or halves 3 4, united by a central vertical seam 5, which extends from the neckband or collar 6 to the crotch 7. These two front sections or halves 3 4 are each of a single integral piece of goods extending from the collar 6 to the bottom of the trousers 8. The back or rear portion of the garment is made up of two waist-sections 9 10 and two trousers-sections 11 12. The waist-sections 9 are extended at their lower ends to form flaps 13 14, which are unattached at their side edges, as at 15 16, slightly below the belt-line. A belt 17 is stitched at its top and bottom at the waist-line and extends entirely around the garment and serving as a reinforcement or stay for the rear waist-buttons 18, which are attached to said belt in the rear, there being no front buttons to the garment. The rear trousers-sections 11 12 extend upward to the top of the belt 17, and at the upper edge of said sections 11 12 button pockets 19 are formed by an extra inner strip 20, provided with buttonholes 21 and connected to the sections 11 12 by the seam 22 and providing pockets by means of the seams 23. From the belt 17 to the collar 6 at the back a row of buttons 24 and buttonholes 25 are utilized to close the garment in the back.
Just above the crotch 7 a fly or opening 26 is provided, and at the rear of said opening a double tab or fly-cover 27 is connected by a line of stitches at one of its edges, the opposite edge 28 being free and extending some distance beyond the opening 26. Sleeves 29, cuffs 30, and buttons 31 complete the garment.
From the foregoing it will be noted that the garment is of comparatively few pieces, with double seams at points of greatest strain, is a light, cool, and cleanly garment, is supported entirely from the shoulders, has no buttons in front, can be quickly and easily managed by a young child, is calculated to give the greatest freedom of movement to the wearer, and is free from unsightly openings to expose the child in any position which he may assume at play.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim 1s- A combination-garment consisting of waist and trousers comprising two sections connected by a vertical seam extending from the neckband of the waist to the crotch of the trousers, and each of said sections consisting of a trousers-leg and one-half of the waist, a belt or reinforce-band surrounding' the waist-line and sewed to the two sections, buttons connected to said belt in the rear, a fiap on the waist at the rear extending below the waist-line, and unattached at the side edges, button-pockets at the upper edge of the trousers-sections in the rear, buttonholes formed in the inner member of the waistband, and a front apope'ning covered bya double tab, substantially as described.
MEYER BUNSIOK. In presence of- A. I/V. GALPIN, H. P.. REYNOLDS.
