Description

PATENTED SEPT. 6, 1904.
W. BREWSTER. DEVICE FOR HOLDING PAPERS OR PARCELS.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 2, 1904.
NO MODEL UNITED STATES Patented September 6, 1904.
ATENT UFFTCE.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING PAPERS OR PARCELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 769,588, dated September 6, 1904.
Application filed May 2, 1904. Serial No. 206,035. (No mod l.)
To (1.7] 1117mm it 'III/fI/Z/ concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAu Bnnws'rnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kalispell. in the county of Flathead and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Holding Papers or Parcels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a 'full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvemcntin devices for holding papers and parcels; and the object of my invention is to provide a simple and cheap device of this character which may be attached to the wall of a room or any other convenient support.
\Yith this object in view my invention consists in the construction and combinations of parts, as hereinafter described and claimed.
in the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. 1 2 is a front elevation. Fig. 3 is a side elevation showing the same applied to the wall of a room, and Fig. 4 is a sectional'view on the line a i of Fig. 1.
My invention consists of a loop a, of springwire, held by the part b. The part 6 is preferably rectangular in shape and is made of tin, sheet-iron, zinc, brass, or any suitable material. On its vertical edges the base 1) is bent over to form guides c c, which embrace and hold the free ends of the wire loop a. This wire loop is provided with an outward bend, as shown at (Z, an inward bend, as
shown at (a, and another outward bond, as shown at f.
Screws 9 are provided for fas- I tening the device to the wall of the room, a post, or any other convenient support, such support being indicated by the part 71 in Fig. 3. \Vhen the base is screwed into the support l1, the bend f comes in contact with the wall, leaving an opening between the wall and the upper part of the wire 4/. Between the bend f and the base .7) is another space, j, in which the paper or parcel to be held lodges.
\Vhen it is desired to hold a paper or parcel by means of this device, it is slipped downward through the opening 5 opposite to or below the bend f. If the article is of pa per, for example, the bend f will hold it against the wall. It the article is larger, such as a parcel, it is pressed downward into the space j, where it is held against the support /1 by the spring of the wire 0.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patout, is-
In a device for holding papers or parcels, the combination of a support, a base provided with guides secured to said support, a springwire, the free ends of which engage in said guides, said wire being formed with two oppositely-disposed bends, one of which is adapted to contact with said support, and leaving spaces above and below said point of contact between said wire and said support, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I al'fix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
