vented a new and useful File, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a file intended to receive music rolls or other similar objects.
The invention is illustrated by way of ex- .ample in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a file constructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view on an enlarged scale of the file closed, a portion of the box being broken off, and Fig. 3 is a view similar to the preceding figure, with the box open. 7 g V 1 As here shown, the box a is provided at one of its ends with a hinged wall a To the said wall a is pivoted or secured in any suitable manner at a suitable point, an iron wire f which is as long as the box and folded or bent in a suitable manner at its end situated close to the bottom of the box, in order to form a stop against which comes to rest one end of the roll contained inthe box. By means of this device, when the wall a is lowered, the iron wire f is pulled, and with its folded or bent end it drives the roll contained in the box. When the box Copies of this patent may be obtained for v Specification of Letters Iatent.

is open, the wall a is held by the iron wire in a horizontal position.
It is obvious that the device according to this invention is not limited to the shape shown in the drawing, which shape can be any desired, and the device can be used for containing articles of any nature.
What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A file box of elongated rectangular shape adapted to be placed in horizontal position and having a door hinged to the lower side at one end of the box, in combination with a wire extending longitudinally into the box and bent back upon itself to form legs spaced apart, the mid-portion of said wire being bent at an angle to the plane of the legs to form an abutment, and said legs being jointed to the said door at such point thatthey rest upon the bottom of the box when the door is fully opened and prevent the latter from being lowered beyond hori- Zontal position, thus forming practically a continuation of the box bottom, substantially in the plane thereof, as described.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
