Description

(No Model.) v I W. B. MODERMUT.
TAG HOLDER. 1 I0.'5Z9,873. Patented Nov. 27, 1894.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WHITNEY B. MGDERMUT, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA.
TAG-i-IOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming art Of Letters Patent No. 529,873, dated November 27, 1894.
Application filed July 10, 1894- $erial No. 517.146- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LWHITNEYB. MODERMUT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in tag holders, the object of the same being to provide a tag with a coiled Wire secured thereto in such manner that the tag may be printed or stamped upon without being interfered with by the wire.
A further and important object is to provide a tag with a yielding wire so that the tag will not be injured if caught by obstacles.
With the above ends in view my invention consists in certain features of construction and combination of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the tag and holder secured thereto. is a detached view of the holder.
A represents a tag to which is secured a yielding or coiled wire B by means of the staple C. The end of the said wire is passed through the tag and is knocked down as shown at D. The .wire Bis preferably a soft wire and is coiled or bent as shown. In the drawings, Figs. 1 and 3, the lower sections a of the same are turned over upon themselves to form the resilient loops 1), on one side of the tag holder, while the opposite sides are bent as shown at o.
By the construction above shown and de- Fig. 2 is a bottom view, and Fig. 3'
scribed, the wire will at all times be on a plane with the tag A, to which it 'is secured thereby enabling blank tags to be handled without the wire interfering with the operation of printing.
The wire tag holder is flexible and in the event of slight obstructions will yield thereby saving the tag from being mutilated or the fastener broken.
The tag is secured to any desired article by means of the free end of the wire B which being pliable may be suitably adjusted in various positions.
My device operates as follows: The free end of the wire B, is inserted through a section of the package and is bent to secure a fastening thereto.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. The combination with a tag, of a flexible zigzag wire secured thereto by one end and having its bends all in substantially the same plane, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination with a tag, of a wire secured thereto said wire having the resilient loops 6 on one side and bent as shown at c on the opposite side, whereby the wire will be at all times on a plane with the tag substan- WHITNEY B. MODERMUT.
