The object of our invention is to combine in one in the hair, and the invention consists of' a hair centra-l portion of the brush a--piece of spong other dressing for the hair, and thus dis dressing and for brushing the hair.
The drawing represents a hair-brush, A being the back, and d3 the bristles or hairs attached in the' usual manner. In the central portion of the brush, instead of' bristles or hairs, is attached, in any suitable manner, apiece of sponge, C. Instead of, the sponge, layers ot' cotton or other absorbent.material may be used, and attached in any convenient manner.- The said sponge orv absorbent material is designed to be supplied with oil or otherdressing when used for the hair or scalp. It may also'` be used as a Hash-brush, for rubbing any the brush is composed, are of considerable length, a block or other substance should be interposed between the sponge and the back of the brush in order to prevent too great a quantity of oil or other dressing being absorbed by the sponge. When used for oiling the hair, the sponge should not be over` half' an inch in thickness, so asto allow the oil to be all pressed out, which would not be so Well accomplished if the sponge is too thick, and the bristles long and hard.
It may be made withv long, stiff bristles, and raised sponge for brushing and oiling the hair, or'witll short,
soft bristles or hairs, with the sponge or other absorbent material in the centre for oiling, washing, or cleansing the hair and scalp, or the skin. Y
Having thus Vdescribed our invention, what we claim as new, The combnationwith a hair-brush of a sponge, for the purpose specified. Y
In testimonywheroofwe have signed our names to this specification in the presence of twosubscribing witnesses.
