DE PINE OLIVARIUS COMBINED SASH AND BELT.
No. 437,340. Patented'Sept. 30,1890.-
WIIIVESSES: Mil/[N708 Ola/draw.
hs ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
DE FINE OLIVARIUS, OF -NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED SASH AND'BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 437,340, dated September 30, 1890.
Application filed August 12, 1890. Serial No. 361,785. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DE FINE OLIVARIUS, of the city of New York, county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful article, a Combined Sash and Belt, of which the following is a full and clear description.
My invention consists of a combined sash and belt to be used as a support andfinish for the waistband of pantaloons.
I am aware that sashes have been manufactured in which they have partly covered a belt, and that sashes have been made having slides or buckles to hold the ends of the sash; but such is not contemplated in my invention, as it will be noted that my sash completely covers the belt, and being provided with flexible loops may be readily removed from the belt and another substituted.
As a rule, sashes have been made having plaits or folds. I prefer a braided or plaited sash of silk orother suitable material braided in three. or more strands, which with blending of color give a novel and pretty effect.
The accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, will illustrate more particularly the invention. 7
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
Figure 1 indicates a perspective View of my combined sash and belt; Fig. 2, an elevation of the inside of the same, and Fig. 3 a detail of the ring and hook.
A indicates the sash, which is preferably made by braiding or otherwise combining three or more pieces of silk or other suitable material. On the inside of the sash and at suitable intervals are placed confining-straps b, through which is passed the belt a, which is provided with the ordinary buckle Z).
e is a ring, preferably of braided cord, which holds the two ends of the sash. A hook f, attached to the ring 6, serves to keep the ends of the sash in the desired position.
A ring of cord, metal, or other suitable fastening device (preferably the former) provided with a hook holds the ends of the sash together, and the hook, being secured to the belt, firmly holds the sash in place.
In order to use the sash, the belt is run through the flexible loops thereof and placed around the waist, and the ends of the sash are drawn through the ring, which is to be fastened to the belt.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A combined sash and belt comprising a belt having fastening devices for securing it about the wearer and a sash of a length to completely conceal said belt and having on its inner face a series of flexible loops, through which the belt is passed, as set forth and described.
2. A combined sash and belt comprising a belt having fastening. devices for securing it about the wearer and a sash of a length to completely conceal said belt and having on its inner face a series of flexible loops, through which the belt is passed, and a suitable device for holding the end of the sash securely in place, as set forth and described.
