Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr'. 8, 1919.
Application iednovember i, 1916. seriai No. 128,991.
To all whom it may' concern y Be it known; that I, HERBERT M. QrrANnY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sardinia, in the county' of Brown andState The inventionrelates to' vbelt supports, and
more particularly to theV class of Vinvisible belt supports'for use in-tr'ousers;`
The lprimary object-'ofthe invention 1s the wherein the belt can beconveniently supported interiorly of the *trousers near the waist line thereof without' causingvdiscomfort to the wearer and at the same time sustaining.V the trousers" in proper position and avoiding the working out of the body garments therefrom.
Another object of the invention is th'eprovision of a support of this character wherein the same can be readily applied interiorly of theV trousers so as to be invisible from without and will hold the belt in proper po sion so as to avoid the riding of the belt over the lwaist line of the trousers or the sagging of the trousers at the waist line and also eliminating any discomfort to the wearer.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a support of this character wherein the construction thereof is novel in form so that it can be readily applied to or removed from the trousers and when applied will properly support the belt so that the same will be invisible and arranged interiorly of the trousers, the belt being readily removable from the support or permanently attached thereto.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a belt support of this character which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eilicient in itspurpose, strong, durable, applied to and removed from the trousers with despatch and inexpensive in manufacture.
Other objects will be in part in part hereinafter set forth.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination of eleobvious and ments and arrangement of parts which willV be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the appended claims. Y Y
of this character- In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of trousers'open, showing the belt' support constructed in accordance with the in- VGlltion applied, with theV belt therein;
Fig. 2-is a fragmentary vertical sectional view through the trousers and belt;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the belt support;-
Fig. 4 is-a vertical sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2. y Y
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several viewsof thev drawings.
Referringto the drawings in detail, A designates the upper portion of trousers which 4are of the ordinary well known construction, and B the belt, which may be of the elastic or non-elastic type, and is adapted-to be fastened about the waist of theV user in any suitable manner. The belt B is removably held within a plurality of detachable supports C, each of which is hereinafter fully described.
Each support comprises a strip of material, preferably metal, having the required rigidity and slightresiliency, which is bent on itself to form a substantially U-shaped major portion constituting a loop 10 for the reception of the belt B, the ends of the limbs of the loops being inwardly curved to provide ears 11 and 12 respectively, the ears being formed with eyes 13 at opposite edges thereof which diverge inwardly from each other, while the eyes on the earl 12 are positioned in alinement and in close relation with the adjacent faces of the eyes on the ear 11 so as to maintain the ears against relative movement. Adapted to be engaged in these eyes 13 is the pin member 14 of a safety pin 15 which is of the ordinary well known construction. The safety pin 15 is engaged in the waist band of the trousers A Figs. 1 and 2 of the member 14 engaged the ear 12, thereby as is clearly shown in drawings, with the pin in the eyes 13 to overlie sustaining the ears in close relation to eachV and in this manner the loop portion 10 of the support C is closed to sustain the belt B therein. It is, of course, understood that a plurality of theV supports C are fastened at the desired intervals interiorly vof the trousers A and have trained the belt B therethrough for supporting the same within the trousers so that both the supports C and the belt B are invisible when in use. The ordinary belt can be worn with the trousers exteriorly thereof in the usual manner, if desired.
It will be apparent that the supports C can be readily detached from the trousers A and also that the belt B can be removed from said supports, thereby enabling the supports and belt to be employed with different trousers, as the occasion may require.
It is to be understood that the invention is not restricted to any particular means of Copies of this patent may be obtained for iive cents each, by addressing the therebetween for receiving the belt, the upper portions of said support constituting` ears curved upwardly and outwardly from Vthehanger and provided at their terminals with pin engaging means, and a safety pin engaged by said means and adapted for detachable engagement to a garment.
2. A belt support comprising a hanger formed from a single strip of material folded medially of its ends having one of the folded portions ofset to form an open loop for removably receiving a belt, ears continuing from the Vfolded portions and curved upwardly and outwardly therefrom, eyes formed on the opposite edges of the ears near the terminals thereof, the eyes on one of the ears being arranged in close relation and against the adjacent faces of the eyes on the other ear and being alined therewith and a safetyl pin adapted for detachable engagement with a garment and having its pin member detachably engaged in the eyes for closing` the loop and suspending the 5 same from said safety pin.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
