  • the mounting assembly includes a body 50d annular in configuration and adapted to encircle one extremity 36d of the magnetic deflection yoke 22d and to support same by a plurality of circumferentially spaced resilient means 52d. Extending outwardly in diverging relationship from the same end of the body 50d are a plurality of circumferentially spacedleg or pad members 58d. Members 58d include an axially extending portion. 60d; a diverging portion 62d and an adhesive material 63d which is pressure sensitive in nature and is vlocated on the outwardly facing surface of the diverging portions 6,2dfor engagement with the cone or funnel portion of the tube as has been previously explained.

  • the control means 72 was in the form of an axially extending slot whereas in the present instance the control means 72d is in the form of an axial extension of the arm 70d which is bladelike in configuration for purposes best set forth hereinafter.
  • Extending radially from each of the arms 70d is a stud means 240 adapted to accept a complementary nut 242 which in the present instance is in the form of a wingnut.
  • the control ring 28d includes a plurality of helically disposed slot means 100d communicating with an axially extending slot portion 102d, with portion 102d also communicating with one edge of the ring 28d to facilitate assembly of ring 28d with the studs 240 which are adapted to project radially through the slot 100d.
  • the adjusting ring 28d may be fabricated of plastic material and to facilitate econo mies in the injection molds it is found desirable to offset a portion 250 of the ring forming the lower edge of slot 100d to permit use of a two-plate mold in fabrication of the adjusting ring 28d.

  • the ring 28d Adjacent the edge opposite the axial slot portion 10211, the ring 28d is provided with an inwardly directed flange 260 which is segmental in nature and is opposed by an inwardly directed spaced flange 262. in the present embodiment there is disclosed a pair of circumferentially opposed flanges 260 which traversed two opposed quadrants while the axially spaced flanges 262 occupy the remaining two opposed quadrants. It will be recognized that the configuration is conducive again to a two-plate molding operation and similarly the specific number of segments utilized is not a controlling factor. The spacing between adjoining segments also can be varied.

  • the ringlike plate 270 is capable of axial movement relative to the control means 72d, when the control ring 28d is rotated and its helical slots are moved relative to the posts or studs 240, resulting in a relative rotation between the plate 270 and the inwardly directed flanges 260-262 of the ring 28d.

  • Clamp means 30d include a split ring 120d encircling the neck portion d of the dcflection yoke 22d and has two or more radially extending arms 280 which are provided at their free extremities with a screwthreaded means 282 for cooperation with an adjusting screw 284.

  • said mounting means includes shoulder means at the extremity of each arm, laterally disposed hook means extending outwardly from said shoulder means, said apertures in said workpiece comprising circumferentially disposed slot means including means for cooperating with said hook means to adjustably mount said workpiece juxtaposed to said shoulder means.
  • said mounting means includes web means interconnecting the free ends of said arms, fastener means providing abutments in 0pposition to said web means for cooperative mounting of said apertured workpiece in spaced relation to said yoke.
  • a device of the type claimed in claim 1 wherein said means to fix the angular relationship of the yoke includes an adjustably split ring clamp having means to grippingly engage said yoke, said clamp having means adapted to be angularly fixed and axially adjustably relative to said mounting means and thereby control movement of said yoke solely to axial movement relative to said mounting means.
  • said clamp means to grip said yoke includes an adjustment means to cause the split ring clamp to close and restrain the yoke against rotation.
  • said clamp means to grip said yoke includes an annular inner clamp fixedly mounted in said yoke, an outer clamp encircling said inner clamp and said clamp having cooperative means to permit rotational movement between said clamps but to prevent axial movement therebetween, thereby permitting intended angular adjustment of said yoke.
  • a device of the type claimed in claim 9- wherein said clamp means encircles the waist of said yoke, said inner clamp being a split ring having means to adjust the compressive gripping of said clamp on said yoke, said cooperative means including a plurality of laterally extending tab means circumferentially spaced around said clamp along opposite edges thereof, said outer clamp adapted to be positioned between the tabs extending from the opposite edges of said inner clamp, said outer clamp being split and having means to adjust the compressive gripping relative to said inner ring and thereby control the angular relation therebetween, said outer clamp having a plurality of radially outwardly extending means for cooperative association with said mounting means and adapted to restrain said outer clamp and its associated yoke from rotation relative to said mounting means but to permit axial movement relative to said mounting means.

  • a deflection yoke assembly including magnetic yoke means, means for mounting the yoke relative to the axis of the neck of a cathode-ray tube, means to rotationally adjust said yoke to a fixed angular position relative to said axis, means to axially adjust said yoke relative to said axis, said rotational and axial adjustmentmeans being adapted to maintain said yoke in a fixed angular relationship relative to said axis during all axial adjustment thereof, said mounting means including a nonmagnetic annular ring defining a body adapted to encircle said yoke and having a plurality of padlike members extending axially and diverging outwardly from one end of said ring, said padlike members adapted to contact said cathode-ray tube adjacent said neck and to locate said body in a fixed coaxial relationship relative to said neck, a plurality of circumferentially spaced arm means extending axially from the opposite end of said body, said arm means each

  • a device of the type claimed in claim 13 wherein said ring is provided with means to facilitate rotation thereof and at least some of said helically disposed slots having said slots communicating with one edge of said ring, one or more of the balance of the said slots not communicating with the edge of said ring and being adapted to provide access to the means for adjusting theclamp means around said yoke, at least one of said radially extending substantially rigid means having means for adjustably fixing said radially extending means relative to said ring to retain the yoke in fixed axial position.
  • said clamp means for encircling said yoke includes an inner clamp fixedly mounted relative to said yoke and an outer clamp encircling said inner clamp and rotatably adjustable but axially fixed relative to said inner clamp, said outer clamp supporting said plurality of radially extending substantially rigid members, at least one of said radial members including adjustable means for cooperating with said ring to adjustably fix said clamp relative to said ring to thereby restrain said yoke against movement.
  • a device of the type claimed in claim 1 wherein said means for mounting the yoke includes means to permit said yoke to be adjustably skewed relative to the axis of the said cathode-ray tube and to maintain said skewed relation during axial or rotational adjustment of said yoke.
