PATENT. OFFICE.
WARREN HERBERT FROST, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 331,392, dated December 1, 1885.
Application filed January 21, 1855. SerialNo.153,54'2. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WARREN HERBERT FROST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of (Juyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Garment-Supporter, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in garment supporters adapted to encircle the limb and having one or more clasps attached thereto; and the objects of myinvention are, first, to providea garment-supporter that shall set smoothly and comfortably on the limb and be of neat and attractive appearance; second, to provide such a garment-supporter that may be quickly and easily put on and detached, and be economical to manufacture. I attain these objects by means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents the garmentsupporter without means of detaching the parts. Fig. 3 shows the garment-supporter with book Eand ring D, for quickly separating or attaching the parts; and Fig. 2 shows a garment-supporter having two clasps attached.
out the several views.
The piece A is made of cloth shaped, preferably, in a triangular form, and has a clasp, 0, attached to one corner, the other two corners being secured either by permanent or detachable means to a band, B, intended to encircle the limb and made preferably of elastic.
As a means of convenience in attaching to or detaching from the limb, I attach a hook, E, to the end of the band B, and a ring, D, to an elastic loop attached to one corner of the piece A. Though I prefer this method of separation other means could be employed.
I prefer to use one clasp,O,as shown in Figs.
1 and 3, though two or more clasps could be attached, as O and O, in Fig. 2.
By having a smooth piece of material, A, connecting the ends of the band. B and clasp or clasps G, I obtain a neat and elegant appearance, and by doing away with all cords, seamed webbing, &c., insure comfort and durability, together with economy of manufacture.
I am aware that other garment-supporters encircling the limb and having clasps attached thereto have been and are made, and I am aware that garment-supporters consisting of a belt and dependent pieces with garmentclasps attached have been made, and do not claim such; but
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to have protected by Letters Patent, is-
1. Ina garment-supporter adapted to en circle the limb, a band formed by the combination of a strip of elastic Webbing and a piece of cloth, said cloth arranged substantially as described, and having one or more garment- Simllarletters refer to similar parts through clasps attached thereto, substantially as shown and described.
2. In a garment-supporter adapted to encircle the limb, the combination of the piece of cloth A, one or more clasps, O, and the band B, with a device for separating one end of the band B from the piece A.
