Description

(No Model.)
M. SALBERG.
SHIRT.
Patented Dec. 19, 1882 wwwa/y,
M9 mf UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MOSES SALBERG, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO JULIUS LEVY, OF SAME PLACE.
SHIRT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 269,327, dated December 19, 1882. Application filed September 5, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that LlvIosEs SALBERG, of the cityand county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented an Improved Shirt; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof'.
My invention relates to an improvement in shirts; and it consists mainly in a collar-band which is made with an extension to overlap in the back and fasten at one side of the middle, the extension having also a hole to receive the back collar-stud, which is prevented from touching the neck by the inner end of the collarband, which is not perforated, but simply lies beneath the inner head of the collar-button.
Referring to the accompanying drawing for a more complete explanation of my invention, the figure is a view of my improved shirt.
A is a shirt of any desired style. In the present case I have shown it having a bosom, B, and open in the back, as shown at C.Y The collar-band D is made and fastened upon the shirt in the usual manner, and it has an extension,E, at one end in the back, which passes over and beyond the opening, the other end terminating on a line with the opening, as shown. The extension E has a button-hole, G, is sewed upon F, at its end, and a button,
the band to secure it. At a point in the extension which corresponds with the center of the back a button-hole, H, is Worked to receive a back collar-stud; but the inner end of the band is left plain, so that when the button is in place it Will not press upon the neck, but will rest against the inner end of the band. This construction has many advantages. The collar may be left upon'the back collar-button when the shirt is removed, if desired, it being necessary only to unbutton it in front and to unbutton the end of the extension E from the button Gr.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The improvement in shirts, consisting of the collar-band D, having the extension E, with button G and hole F to secure it at one side of the center, and the hole H for the back collar-stud above the inner end of the band, sub` stantially as herein described.
In witness whereofIhereunto set my hand.
MOSES SALBERG.
