v INVENTOR 1m %M A; Attarne I UNITED STATES PATENT O FICE.
LEVI WILSON, OF NEVADA, OHIO.
\ BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 263,643, dated August 29, 1882. Application filed July '1, 1882. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEVI WILSON, of Nevada,,in the county of Wyandot and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buckles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective "iew of my improved buckle applied to the tug-trace and back-straps of a harness. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same detached from the straps. Figs. 3 and 4 are views of the parts of the buckle detached.
Similar letters of reference in the several figures denote the same parts.
This invention has for its object'to improve the construction and operation of the buckle for which Letters Patent of the United States were granted and issued to me September 3, 1878, No. 207,787; and the invention consists in certain novel features which I will first describe, and then point out particularly in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the trace of a harness; B, the short tug attached to the harms, and adapted to be connected to the trace A by means of a wedgebnckle, O.
E is the backstrap, and D the buckle, of my invention for joining the several straps, A B E.
The buckle D consists of two parts, D and D The part D or main frame is raised at its middle portion, so as to admit the part D and also to permit of the passage of the strap B, and it has upper and lower loops, d (1*, through which the end of the saddle-strap E passes. The part D consists of a rectangularly-shaped portion having curved-out corners c, a depressed cross-bar, 0, having a stud, c and a lateral shank, 0 which is adapted to enter the end of the tracestrap A, and to be secured therein bya rivet passed through both shank and strap.
In the application of my improved buckle the shank c of the part D is secured to the end of the trace-strap, as before explained. The part D as shown in Fig. l, and the part D is seated within the part D upon the back of strap B, the curved-out ends 0 of part D admitting the arms 02 of the part D The end of the saddle-strap E is then passed in through the upper loop, d, behind the upper bar of the part D thence in front of the depressed cross-bar c, and thence out at the other side behind the lower bar of the part D and through the lower loop, d The stud o is made to enter one of a series of holes in the saddle-strap, and the connection is thus completed. It will be observed that by loosening the 'wedgebuckle G the buckle D can be adjusted along on the short strap B, carrying with it the saddle-strap.
I c1ailn as my invention- The herein-described buckle, consisting of the part D, having the raised middle portion and the end loops, d d andthe part D having the curved corners c, the depressed cross-bar c,.carrying the stud c and the shank 0 the said parts cooperating with each other and with the several straps, .as set forth.
