HOSE SUPPORT Filed June 11, 1947 I Figure 3, Figure 1 Patented May 4, 1948 HOSE SUPPORT Maxine Watkins Speller, White Plains, and Helen Gray Hill,
Port Washington, N. Y.
Application June 11, 1947, Serial No. 753,964 3 Claims. (Cl. 2-305) This invention relates to a hose supporting a suspender type of hose suporter which is su-bstantially self-adjusting to accommodate movements of the user.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simple and practical device of the above mentioned kind.
Other objects of the invention will be in part obvious or in part pointed out hereinafter.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, arrangements of parts, and in the several steps and relation and order of each of said steps to one or more of the others thereof, all as will be pointed out in the following description, and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the following claims.
The invention will best be understood if the following description is read in connection with the drawings, in which,
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate the application of an embodiment of the invention illustrated in being a front view and Figure 2 a rear view;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a device embodying the invention; and
Figure 4 is a detail showing one form of loop structure by which the straps may be slidingly interrelated at their points of crossing.
The term strap is used herein in a broad sense and is intended to include ribbon or strips of various other kinds of textile material and the like.
The supporter comprises the straps l0 and I2 each of which is long'enough so that with its mid portion extending over one of the users shoulders, its ends will reach to the top of the respective stockings worn by the user. The straps are crossed over the users back, at M, but are not crossed in front. Consequently the rear portion of each strap extends diagonally across the users back and the front portion extends substantially straight down from the shoulder except as deflected by the adjustment and interconnecting means which will be described.
The end of the front half of one strap and the end of the rear half of the other strap are crossed in the region of the thighs respectively, so that the end 0f the rear half provides attachment means for the stocking in front and the end of the front half provides stocking attachment means in the rear of the users leg.
The said end of the front half of one strap and the said end of the rear half of the other strap are slidingly related at their crossings in the region of the thigh, each strap being provided adjacent one end with a loopor eye through which the other end of the other strap may be inserted. Thus as shown herein strap I0 is provided with the loop or eye Ill and strap 12 is provided with the loop or eye l2". The end of the rear half of strap 12 is threaded through the loop Ill of strap l0 and the end of the rear half of strap l0 is-threaded through the loop l2 of strap l2.
The loops Ill and I2- are located so that when the supporter is in use, with straps l0 and I2 extending over the opposite shoulders of the user, they will be positioned substantially over the users thighs respectively. Thus the clasp l0 which is provided at the end of strap 10 which has been inserted through loop l2 may be attached to the stocking top at the front of the users right leg, and the clasp |0 vided on the other end of strap l0 may be attached to the stocking top at the rear of the users left leg. Similarly the clasp I 2 at the end of strap i2 which has been threaded through loop ll) may be attached to the stocking top at the front of the users left leg, and the clasp |2 on the other end of strap l 2 may be attached to the stocking top at the rear of the users right leg.
Thus the straps l0 and I2 are secured together in back of the user at I 4, and the opposite ends of the straps are slidingly related to one another in the region of the users thighs respectively.
The halves or portions of each strap l0 and I2 which extend down from the shoulder in front of the users body are adjustably and slideably interrelated by the cooperating members I 6 and I8. Member I6 is a short strap terminating at one end in the loop 20 through which one of the straps I 0 or I2 is threaded and member l8 comprises a hook 22 carried by the loop 24 through which the other of said straps ill or l2 may be threaded. Member i6 is provided with a plurality of eyelets 26 spaced at intervals providing a plural number of attachment means for hook 22. Thus members I 6 and I8 cooperate to interconnect the front portions of members l0 and I2, and thus hold which is pro-,
them in the desiredposition in use and restrain them from any tion, it is to be understood that all matter here tendency to slip off the shoulders. inbefore set forth or shown in the accompanying It will be understood that since the straps drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not to and I2 are only slidingly related with memin a limiting sense.
