2 Claims. (Cl. 2-335) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hose supporters and has particular reference to one which is suspended over the shoulders instead of encircling the waist.

An object of this invention is to provide a simple, economical, durable hose supporter which can be worn by women with a minimum of discomfort and a maximum of freedom of movement and which can be readily adjusted to suit any size of figure.

A further object is to eiciently support the hose without the necessity of having a band encircling the waist of the wearer which is of considerable discomfort during hot weather and in cases of stout and/or pregnant women and yet which can be readily adjusted to remain in place on the body with the pull on the supporter being taken over the shoulders.

A still further object is to provide a simple hose supporter with which is associated adjustable positioning elements so that when worn the device, even through very thin dresses, is not noticeable. Y

Further and more specific objects, features and advantages will more clearly appear from a consideration of the detailed specification hereinafter set forth, especially when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing which illustrates a present preferred form which the invention may assume and which forms part of the specification.

In brief and general terms, the invention comprises a pair of elongate hose-supporting straps having garter elements at their free ends which are adapted to be fastened at spaced points on the upper edges of the respective stockings. These straps extend respectively up along the sides of the back of the wearer and are spaced apart therealong. They then pass over the respective shoulders of the wearer and then, still spaced apart, extend down along the front oi' the wearer and their other ends are connected to the stockings. Preferably, the material of these straps is of elastic material.

Connecting means extend across the back of the wearer at a level between the waist and the shoulders and is connected at its ends to the respective straps to confine their lateral movement at this point. Preferably, this connecting means is also of elastic and adjustable to any desired vertical level.

Further, the invention includes adjustable slidable fasteners to join the front and back portions of the respective straps approximately at the level of the waist and to the sides thereof to 2 further adapt the supporter to lie snugly against the body.

A preferred present form which the invention may assume is shown in the drawings of which- Fig. l is an enlarged rear elevation of the article;

Fig. 3 is a rear View; and

Fig. 4 is a side view of the device in position.

The novel hose supporter comprises elongated straps A and B preferably of elastic material which have garter elements I0 of any suitable sort at their free ends and at their middle portions II are disposed transversely over the respective shoulders of the wearer with front and rear portions I2 and I3 respectively extending downward along the torso of the wearer. The lower portions I4 and I5 of said respective straps extend down along the thighs and legs and are suitably conected at spaced points respectively to the stockings.

The rear portions I3 of the straps are connected at a vertical level somewhere between the waist and the shoulders by a connecting band I6 preferably of elastic, the ends of which are provided with slip fasteners I 1 adapted to engage and to be slid along the straps as desired. This connection will maintain the rear of the upper portions of the supporter in position to minimize the liability of the straps sliding over the shoulders. By sliding this connection up and down along the rear portions of the straps, this limiting connection may be adjusted to the most eflicient position for the body of a particular person.

Each strap has its front and rear portions I2 and I3 connected together by a slip `clasp I8 preferably disposed approximately at the waistline of the wearer so as to permit the lower portions Ill and I5 of the straps to be moved or to extend divergently to the desired points of connection with the stocking as shown. In this manner the article is held securely on the shoulders and by having the front and rear portions of the straps connected respectively to each other at the waistline, the straps will not tend to press or pull outwardly on the garment and disturb the contour of it on the figure.

It is obvious that this device can be readily slipped and quickly adjusted to Vthe most suitable position especially with respect to the connecting band I6 and the slip fasteners I1 so that it fits securely to the body and permits proper support of the hose with the utmost freedom of movement to the wearer and without any circumferential restriction or binding at the waistline which is usually a matter of considerable discomfort for stout people in hot weather and is particularly discomforting to maternity cases. It is also clear and important that the straps, as they extend down along the front of the body, do not lie across and against the front central region, especially in the case of pregnant or stout women, since this pressure is irritating and decidedly uncomfortable, and this lack of pressure at this point is achieved by not having the straps crossed or drawn together across this part of the anatomy.

While the invention has been described in detail and shown with respect to the accompanying drawing, it is not to be limited to such details, since many changes and modications may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope thereof. Hence, it is desired to cover any and all forms and modications of the invention which may come within the language and scope of any one or more of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A hose supporter comprising a pair of elongated straps, each strap consisting of front, rear and medial portions, garter means at the free ends of said portions, each strap being adapted to rest at its medial portion on the shoulder of the wearer with the front portion extending down in front and the rear portion in back of the wearer; adjustable means interconnecting the rear portions of the straps in parallel spaced apart relation, at a point corresponding to an intermediate position between the waist and the shoulders of the wearer, and adjustable joining means uniting the front and rear portions of each strap at a point below said connecting means corresponding to the waist and at the side of the wearer.

2. A hose supporter in accordance with claim l, in which the adjustable connecting means is a band and the adjustable means is a slip fastener.
