`intenta! Jan. 2, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE PANTY Gianm- Elvera simmons, Philadelphia, Pa. Application December 4, 1947, 'SerialNm 789,674-
Mgr-invention relates to a new and useful pantie girdle and has for one of its objects to provide means,- generally, for preventingv the garment from sliding or riding upward caused by movements of the wearers body, such as when bending, stopping, assuming a sitting posture or raising the arms above the shoulders.
Another object of this invention is to provide means as a part of a pantie girdle which will prevent the garment from sliding or creeping upward on a wearers body, without the -use of garters or leg embracing means, thus eliminating the pull on hosiery or any bindingeffect on' the wearers legs, which latter often causes various types of illness due to hindrance of the blood circulation.
A further object of the invention is to provide a pantie girdle having means to engage the cheeks or fatty portions of the wearers buttocks for preventing upward sliding or creeping actions of the garment usually caused by movements of the wearers body.
A still furthei` object of the present invention is to provide a pantie girdle having elastic bands secured to the short leg portions and adapted to underlie the buttocks of a wearer to retard any tendency of the garment to slide upward on the wearers body, to return said garment to normal position if slightly displaced, and to withdraw portions of the garment from any creases in the crotch of the wearer.
With the above and other objects in View this invention consists of the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then designated by the claim.
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand. how to make and use the same I will describe its construction in detail referring- .by numerals to the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof in which:
Fig. 1 is a side view of the pantie girdle made in accordance with my invention, showing the garment as worn on a figure.
Fig. 2 is a front view thereof as it appears on the figure.
Fig. 3 is a rear view of the same illustrating how the elastic -bands engage underneath the buttocks of a wearer.
Fig. 4 is a view of the rear and one side of the garment on a stooping figure depicting the manner in which the bands hold said garment against upward displacement.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged side elevation of pantie girdle illustrating the location of the holding- 1 claim. (c1. M3)
' bands to the rear of side medianV line of the'ganment.
Fig. 6 is a front view thereof showing the ilexible closed crotch.
Fig. 7 is a rear or back view of the same.
Fig. 8 is a bottom view of the garment lookinginto the leg openings or short legs and showing the arrangement of the holding bands.
In carrying out my invention as herein embodied I0 represents a pantie girdle of any suitable material and of any well known or desirable construction and includes the usual body portion II to fit the waist and hips or lower body part of a figure. At the lbottom of the garment body portion are leg openings I2 defined by wall elements of the garment and the flexible or pliable crotch piece I3 and, preferably, said wall elements at the bottom of said garment body and said crotch piece constitute short garment legs I4.
Holding bands I5, preferably of elastic material, each has its ends connected in opposed relation to the wall elements defining the leg openings and to the rear of the said median line of the garment. Specically, one end of each band is connected to outer side of a short leg I4 and the outer end of each band is connected to the ilexible or pliable crotch piece I3. These holding bands are connected to the garment by stitches I6 and hang down in generally semicircular loops.
In practice, the pantie girdle garment is placed over the legs with the holding bands to the rear and pulled up until in the proper location on the figure. This will cause the holding bands to assume a position embracingthe fattyvportions or cheeks of the buttocks and arrest further upward movement of the main garment.
Thereafter, the garment will be held by the bands against upward creeping or sliding move# ments on the figure regardless of the posture assumed or the actions undertaken by the wearer. Even when the posture taken causes the garment to move away from the points of engagement of the holding bands with the figure, said bands will stretch, due to their elasticity, and will return the garment to the proper position on the figure if said garment became temporarily displaced. Further, should the folds of the exible or pliable crotch piece enter creases or channels of the wearers crotch under certain conditions, said crotch piece folds will be withdrawn by the holding bands as soon as the wearer assumes an erect position.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that I have provided an exceeding-1y simple and effective device of the character designated which does not depend upon some secondary article, such as garters or straps connected to the wearers hosiery to retain the garment in place, which secondary articles have a tendency to damage said hosiery or produce an undesirable pull on parts of the anatomy. Also, the holding means does not encircle the Wearers legs and there can be no binding or compressing effect which might restrict the free flow of the blood and result in illness or a crippled condition.
Of course I do not Wish to be limited to the exact details of construction herein shown and described as these may be varied within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of my invention. e
Having described my invention what I claim as new and useful is: o
A pantie girdle comprising a body with leg openings therein to be slipped over the legs onto the Wearers body, said leg openings beingpartially dened by a flexible and pliable crotch piece secured to the garment body, and relatively narrow elastic holding bands each having one end permanently secured to the garment body towards an outer side thereof and the other endpermanently secured to an adjacent edge of the crotch piece, both of said holding bands being permanently looped in sling-type fashion and located to the rear of the side median line of the garment and adapted to underlie only the cheeks of the wearers buttocks to the rear of the legs.
