Description

HOS IERY SUPPORT Filed Oct. 7, 1946 Patented Apr. 19, 1949 HOSIERY SUPPORT Harold R. Hansen and Harriet S. Hansen, Menomonie, Wis.
Application October 7, 1946, Serial No. 701,656
1 Claim.
The invention relates to improvements in hose supporters which eliminate the necessity of girdles, garter belts and round garters allowing freedom of movement, freedom from unhealthy constriction around the waist or thigh, and maintain a straight seam in the hosiery thereby attached.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the device in operation with a conventional hook type garter tab.
Fig. 2, of the drawing, illustrates the invention itself, alone, showing the cloth patch I with the cloth loop 2 sewed onto the face side of said patch. To the back of the cloth patch I, adhesive is applied as a means of holding it firmly to the leg of the wearer.
The drawing depicts one form of the invention in actual size. It is a cut-out of stiff cloth I, I, I, the back of which is coated with zinc oxide adhesive which is protected, until worn, by a covering of removable crinoline.
On the face side of the heart-shaped cloth I, is a folded piece of flat tape sewed to form a loop 2, into which a common garter tab 3, 3, may be attached, thereby rendering said tab removable. Thus the adhesive cloth is disposable while the tab may be reused.
The whole hose supporter is held to the thigh, as high or as low as stockings may necessitate, by
2 the adhesive, rendering more cumbersome supports unnecessary.
We are aware that prior to our invention hose supporters have -been made with around-thethigh garters, garter belts, girdles and corsets. We therefore do not claim such combinations broadly; but We claim:
A hosiery supporter comprising a patch of relatively stiff, disposable cloth fabric, one surface of which is provided with a coating of adhesive adapting it to be secured to the leg of a wearer, the other surface of which is provided with a looped tape adjacent the center thereof, said looped tape providing means whereby a garter tab may be detachably secured to the patch.
