Description

S. C. LEFKOVITS I SANITARY NAPKIN PROTECTOR AND APRON Filed Nov 4 922 INVENTOR 54777216] Clef/ram? A TTOR NE Y Patents dune 19 l SAMUEL o. Lovrrs, or BROOKLYN, NEW roan SANITARY NAPKIN PROTECTOR AN D NEON.-
, Application filed November 4, 1922. Serial No. 598,980.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL O. LEFKO- vrrs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Brooklyn, Kings County, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Napkin Protectors and Aprons, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to sanitary aprons and in particular to one which, while being adapted for use as an apron, is also convertlble into a protective coverln for a catamenial bandage. A particular 0 ject of the invention is the provision of means whereby the apron when drawn up for use as a protector will sufliciently cover the buttocks of the wearer to insure against the soiling of the outer garments and at the same time be comfortable.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a means in connection with the apron for retaining the protecting portion thereof in place, to provide a supporter which is readily adjustable as to size and to p ovide a sliding connection between the apron and belt ortionswhereby the former may be adjusteh to provide comfort to the wearer. Other objects and improvements will be brought out as the specification progresses, reference being also had to the accompanying drawing, 111 which Fig. 1 is a perspective View of the apron as it appears when in position to serve as a retainer and water-proof protector for a bandage, the latter being shown in connection therewith;
Fig. 2 is a view of the apron opened out, one of the auxiliary straps being shown separated therefrom; A
Fig. 3 is a view of the apron when serving as a supporter and in position on the wearer.
Referring to the drawing in detail, 5 indicates the body portion of the combined apron and supporter which is enlarged at its mid-portion 6 to serve as a covering for the buttocks of the wearer. The top edge of the body 5 is provided with an elongated cloth loo 7 in which is slidably retained the elastic belt 8 which is adapted to enrubber. The lower edge of the body portion is rovided with a reinforcing strip 10 to whlch is fixed the head members 11 of the ordinary snap-fastener. Suitable shank members 12 of such fasteners are fixed to the body 5 at the opposite edges thereof on the enlarged mid-portion 6 and also near the lower edge so that when the apron is drawn u to provide a support, the ends of detachab e straps 13, in which are also fixed head members 11, may be attached to the shank members 12 to connect the mid-portion and end of the body 5 and draw the former about the buttocks of the wearer.
. The belt 8 is provided atits front with two straps 14 which are connected to the head members 11 in the edge. of the body portion 5 and rovide the means of converting the apron into a protector for the bandage. These straps are also provided intermediate their length with shank members 12, the belt also having two in alignment with the straps, which provide an adjustment whereby the body 5 may be drawn up to suit the comfort of the wearer.
Two depending cloth loops 15 and 16 are provided at the front and back of the supporter. the front loop 15 being sewed to the belt direct while the back one 16 is attached ,to the elongated loop 7. A strip of elastic is retained about the wearers waist with suitable snap-fasteners. The nds of the bandage are secured to the loops 15 and 16 in any suitable manner. When the article is used only as an apron, the straps 13 are removed.
It is obvious then that I have rovided an apron which is readily converti le into an a justable protector which will render the soiling of the outer garments impossible and which will be comfortable, light of weight and washable.
Having described my invention, what I claim is A combined sanitary napkin protector and apron comprising an elastic waist encircling member, a waterproof apron member having an enlarged central portion, depending from said waist encircling member and movably associated therewith, bandage supporting loops associated with said waist encircling member, a plurality of straps depending from the front of said waist encircling n1ember, fasteners on said straps endon the lower the end of the apron member when the same end of said apron member whereby the said is-attaohed to the depending straps whereby end of the apron member may be attached to the enlarged portion and end portion of the 1 said straps and adjusted thereon relatively to apron are maintained at their "full width 5 the waist encircling member, and detachable when the same isinuse on the buttocks of strap members extending from the enlarged the wearer.
portion of the apron and adapted to engage SAMUEL C. LEFKOVITS.
