Buenos Aires, Argentina Application December 4, 1951, Serial No. 259,852 In Argentina October 22, 1951 2 Claims.
The present invention relates to underwear garments for women and essentially has for its object to provide an improved supporting member especially adapted to be used during cyclic catamenial periods.
The present improved support, which as a unit presents the general form of a slip, is characterised by its being constituted by a length of flexible, waterproof, material cut to a shape such that, when folded along a transverse median line, it presents two portions of substantially symmetrical outline the free ends of which are connected to an extensible waistband supporting the ends of lateral, adjustable, holding members threaded into tubular edge portions formed at the middle part of said length of flexible waterproof material, the arrangement being such that, in operation, the unit may be secured to the corresponding parts of the users body and be firmly held thereon so as to effectively avoid a displacement in any direction during use.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into practice, the same will be explained in more detail with reference to the appended sheet of drawings illustrating one preferred form of realization, wherein:
Fig. 1 represents a side elevation (front view) of an improved support according to the invention, and
Fig. 2 is a similar view but drawn as turned to an angle of 90 with respect to the latter.
In both figures the same characters of reference apply to similar or corresponding parts.
Referring particularly to the drawing, the improved support according to the invention comprises a main portion a made from any convenient waterproof sheet material and out to a shape such as to present, when folded along a median line I, lower and upper trapezoidal portions 2, respectively 3. The free ends of member a are formed by stitching with tubular seats 4 into which are threaded the portions 5 and 6 of an elastic Waistband, the free end of portion 5 carrying a ring 1 through which is threaded the end 8 of the portion 5 which may be adjustably fixed in a buckle 9 for the necessary adjustment to the users waist.
From the points it! at which terminate the central folded portions 2, at each side emerge elastic holding members I I which are threaded through ring members [3 and housed within tubular edges l4 formed by stitching at the margins of said portions 2, so as to form apexes at [2.
For lateral adjustment of the support provision is made of two inelastic bands l5 slidably connected, as at IT, to the waistband 5-6, and their other ends I 6 are passed through the rings I3 and are then secured to buckles [8.
The operation of the present improved support will be clearly apparent to anyone skilled in the art. After the support being placed in position on the body of the user, with the band 5-6 em- 2 bracing the waist and adjusted thereto by means of buckle 9, the lateral tie portions lIl5-I6 are adjusted by means of buckles l 8, whereby the device becomes firmly secured to users body without any risk of fortuitous displacements in any direction.
Although in the foregoing description and in the appended drawing a specific form of realization has been disclosed and shown, it will be clearly apparent to those skilled in the art that many modifications of detail and construction may be made within the scope of the invention as clearly defined in the appended claims.
Having thus fully described and ascertained our said invention and the manner in which the same is to be performed and carried into practice.
What we claim is:
1. Underwear garment for womens use comprising in combination, an extensible waistband, a piece of flexible, waterproof material folded along a median transverse line and slidably connected at its free ends to opposite points of said waistband, the folded halves of said piece of flexible material being identical in shape and presenting each an outline constituting two trapezoids joined at their bases, the outlying edges of the two adjacent trapezoids of the two halves being provided with loops, an elastic, endless tieband inserted in each of said loops, and a flexible, adjustable tie member connected to each one of said elastic tie-bands and to other opposite points of the said waistband.
2. Underwear garment for womens use comprising in combination, an extensible Waistband, a piece of flexible, waterproof material folded along a median transverse line and slidably connected at its free ends to opposite points of said waistband, the folded halves of said piece of flexible material being identical in shape and presenting each an outline constituting two trapezoids joined at their bases, the outlying edges of the two adjacent trapezoids of the two halves being provided with loops, an elastic, endless tieband inserted in each of said tubular loops and carrying a connecting ring, and a flexible, adjustable tie member inserted through the ring of each of said elastic tie-bands and being secured at one end to an adjusting buckle, and at its other end to said waistband.
