  • roller base body 19 disposed on the radially outward-facing sides of the first flange-side cover 3 , of the first seal carrier 8 , of the first cutting ring bearing body 9 , of the second cutting ring bearing body 13 , of the second seal carrier 16 and of the thread-side cover 17 is a roller base body 19 , which engages between the first cutting ring bearing body 9 and the second cutting ring bearing body 13 by a centering shoulder 20 directed radially toward the cutting roller shaft 2 and is fixedly connected to the first cutting ring bearing body 9 and the second cutting ring bearing body 13 .
  • the roller base body 19 is thus able to rotate relative to the cutting roller shaft 2 .
  • Attached to the side of the roller base body 19 facing away from the cutting roller shaft 2 in the radial direction is an exemplary embodiment of a cutting ring 21 according to the invention, which in the implementation according to FIG. 1 rests in the axial direction against a stop shoulder 22 formed circumferentially on the roller base body 19 , and on the opposite side from the cutting ring stop shoulder 22 is fixed in the axial direction by a releasable lock ring 23 , which in turn is disposed in a lock ring groove 24 formed in the roller base body 19 .
  • the lock ring 23 thus is configured to be detachable from the roller base body 19 , such that after the removal of the lock ring 23 , the cutting ring 21 , in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 1 , can be removed from the roller base body 19 by being slid off in the axial direction and is therefore replaceable.
  • the cutting ring 21 carries in a radially raised outer portion 25 a number of cutting inserts 26 made of a harder material than the material of the cutting ring 21 .
  • FIG. 2 is a front view of the exemplary embodiment of a cutting roller 1 according to FIG. 1 . It can be seen from the representation according to FIG. 2 that the cutting inserts 26 are arranged equidistantly apart over the entire circumference of the cutting ring 21 , there being a respective intermediate web portion 27 of the cutting ring 21 between each set of adjacent cutting ring inserts 26 .
  • the cutting ring inserts 26 are disposed in cutting insert grooves 28 , as cutting insert seats, that extend in the axial direction all the way through the raised outer portion 25 of the cutting ring 21 and terminate axially outwardly and—at least in new condition—radially outwardly flush with the intermediate web portions 27 of the cutting ring 21 .
  • FIG. 3 is a cross section of another implementation of a cutting roller 1 for quarrying, particularly by means of a tunnel boring machine, it being noted that, to avoid repetition, like elements in the implementation according to FIGS. 1 and 2 and the implementation according to FIG. 3 have been given the same reference numerals and will not be described in more detail below.
  • the cutting ring 21 has three raised outer portions 25 , each of which bears a number of cutting inserts 26 . It can also be seen from the representation according to FIG. 3 that the cutting ring 21 is embodied as solid and, similarly to the roller base body 19 in the implementation according to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 , is placed on the radial outer sides of the covers 3 , 17 , of the seal carriers 8 , 18 and of the cutting ring bearing bodies 9 , 13 .
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of the implementation of the cutting roller 1 , from which representation according to FIG. 4 it can be seen that the cutting insert grooves 28 are arranged in the outer portions 25 in such a way that a respective three cutting insert grooves 28 in different outer portions 25 are aligned with one another in the axial direction. This alignment is useful for production reasons.
  • FIG. 5 shows the exemplary embodiments of cutting rollers 1 according to FIGS. 1 to 4 in side view. It is particularly clear from the representation according to FIG. 5 that the cutting inserts 26 are exposed on the axially outward side.
  • FIG. 6 is a detail view of a cutting ring 21 according to the invention in the region of three cutting inserts 26 , disposed in cutting insert grooves 28 that are continuous in the axial direction and are spaced apart from one another by intermediate web portions 27 of the cutting ring 21 . It can be seen especially clearly from the representation according to FIG. 6 that the cutting inserts 26 terminate by their respective outer contours flush with the intermediate web portions 27 , thus eliminating the risk of excessive singular stresses on the cutting inserts 26 due to protruding regions.
  • FIG. 7 is a detailed side view of a number of cutting inserts 26 disposed in cutting insert grooves 28 . It can be seen from the representation according to FIG. 7 that each cutting insert groove 28 is formed with a planar base surface 29 , which is adjoined on both sides by transition surfaces 30 , 31 that are rounded in the circumferential direction of the cutting roller 21 . Each of the transition surfaces 30 , 31 is continued on its side remote from the base surface 29 by again planar radial side surfaces 32 , 33 , each extending toward the center of the circle defined by the cutting ring 21 .
  • annular step surfaces 34 , 35 Formed at the ends of the radial side surfaces 32 , 33 directed away from the transition surfaces 30 , 31 are annular step surfaces 34 , 35 that extend outward in the circumferential direction of the cutting roller 21 .
  • the ends of the annular step surfaces 34 , 35 that are disposed outward in the circumferential direction are adjoined by wedge side surfaces 36 , 37 that extend in the radial direction all the way to the radial outer side of the cutting ring 21 .
  • the wedge side surfaces 36 , 37 of a cutting insert groove 28 are oriented so that they are inclined toward each other from radially inward to radially outward, such that a cutting insert 26 shaped complementarily to the cutting insert groove 28 , when inserted in the axial direction into the cutting insert groove 28 , is held in place in the radial direction of the cutting ring 21 .
  • the cutting insert grooves 28 are lined with solder layers 38 , which ensure a secure connection after suitable heating of the cutting ring 21 in the region of the cutting insert grooves 28 and cutting inserts 26 .
  • the invention particularly furnishes the advantage that the cutting inserts 26 are secured only by their outer sides extending in the circumferential direction, which are subject to relatively little wear and tear. Moreover, wear on the cutting ring 21 occurs essentially in the intermediate web portions 27 , so the cutting inserts 26 form a tooth structure and protect the intermediate web portions 27 against additional excessive wear.
