Description

1930. J. HERSKOWITZ 1733538 OVERALLS 1 Pmtmhte 11 STATES PATENT OFFICE J OSE1H HERSIIOWITZ, OIB' WOOIDHAVEN, NEW YORK, ASSIGN'OZB '1O ADOLF HERSKOWI'I'Z & BON, ING, OB BROOKLYN, NEW YORK VERALIILB Application flled June 21,
mcans 0f what is commonly known; in the art as a honklcss fastener.
More specifically my invention relates to a garment havmg a sem1-c1rculur drop seat uxtondmg completely across the man 0E the fing am]. including a continuous hookloss fnstener Whereby said seat may be openby a single rot'ary moverrient.
I am aware that outer garments of the above type have been mad with dr0p seats equipped with hookless fasteners extending aeross-; the back of the garment from side tu sido in a straight line. It has been neuessnry however, to split 01 open the sides of thc gnrment for at least a short distance to' permit the saut to be fully opened. The open sidcs require an additional fastening meuns such as a button und button hole t0 complutcly close the seat. This is an objectionublc feature of such a garment for the reason that it neccssitates at least three operations, viz. the manipulation of the hookless fastenor und the closing 0f both sides. Furthermore, the sidesdo n0t completely close so thnt in the rasa 0f motnr mechanics for instzmcc, oil, grease am] dirt creep through the side openings d'efeatingthe purpose und objuct of the .garmcnt. In additipn, the side opunings are easily ripped, the Buttons me torn uwny am] busy mochanics und workmen cunnot tuke the time to properly close the saut und openings f0r proper protection.
T0 overcome the above objections Imd othors which will be rmulily undcrstood by tlmsu skilled in the urt und to enuble others to fully comprchend the llnderlying features und improvement in my new outer garmont, referenco i had to the accompunying drawing showing a preferred fofm cf the invention, in which garment so as t0 provide a maximum open- 1929. smmm 372,678.-
Fig. 1 is a front-view showing the garment.
Fig. 2 is al rer view showing the drop saut 'partially opened.
Referrin now t'o the drawings, 5 designates the ront, upper body port1on of an outer garment such as an overall, und preierubly in one piece with the legs 6, 7. Numeral .8 designates the waist band, 9 the t01i pockets und 10 the side pockets.
ieferring particularly to Fig. 2 of the drawing, I have shown the rear body ortion 11 of the garment as provided with a semicirculur drop seat or flap designated in its entirety by numeral 12, said drop seat extending from the side 13 t0 the side 14 and cmnplotely acr0ss the said garment. The lower edge 15 of the rear body 11 is equipped with the hookless fastenor Strip which cooperntus with a strip 16 on the top edge of the drop saut, said strips beim; adapted t0 be opened und closed by the fastener 17 in the manner W011 known und understood.
It will be thus seen that the drop seat may bdcompletely opened by a single operation and by a single, circular sweep when the fastener 17 is seized by the fingers and the Saat closcd in the same manner. Since the Width of the seat is 0f the same width as the garment, there are n0 side openings or additional fastening means am loyed other than the hookless fastener. he s aat' provides the maxi mum opening and completely closes the back of the garment when closed so that n0 dirt or foreign matter may enter to seil the garments t0 be protected.
Having shown and described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent isl:
A garment of the dass described comprising an upper body ortion, bott0m leg poptions, a semi-circular drop saut und a slide fastener for closin said drop saut extending from side to s1de, the peak of the drop saut being 0n u line with the waist line of the garment.
In testimony whereof he has affixod bis signature.
JOSEPH HERSKOWI'IZ.
