Description
1931- sfBosHNAcK I 1,832,687
TROUSERS Filgd May 20, 1951 Jamaal ATTO RNEV Patented Nov. 17, 1981 PATENT OFFICE SAMUEL BOSHNACK, OF BBOOKLYN,-NEW YORK TROUSERS Application filed. Kay 20, 1981. Serial No. 538,842.
This invention relates to trousers and it has for one of its objects the provision of a closure which will permit rapid opening and closing of the trousers.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a trousers closure which though quickly operated will be perfectly safe in use, no personal injury being possible when my invention is used.
The invention contemplates providing the trousers of any usual or preferred design with an extra flap extending from one side of the trousers, preferably the left side and adapted to overlie the usual front closure of the trous- 13 ers, one member of a slide fastener being secured to said flap, preferably on the inside thereof and preferably but not necessarily a short distance from the free ed e of the flap, the other member of the slide astener being secured to the other side of the trousers, the fastener preferably being disposed at an angle to a vertical line.
The invention will be fully and comprehensivel understood from a consideration of the fiillowing detailed description when read in connection with the accompanying drawings which form part of the application, with the understanding, however, that the improvement is capable of extended aplication and is not confined to the exact Showing of the drawing nor to the precise construction described and, therefore, such changes and modifications may be made therefrom as do not affect the'spirit of the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claim.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a front view of the upper portion of a trousers showing the front buttoned, and including the structure of my invention shown in closed position.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing the front of the trousers in open position; and
Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3-3 of Fi 1.
Re erring to the drawings for a more detailed description thereof, the numeral 5 indicates a trousers of any usual or preferred design modified according to my invention as hereinafter described. The trousers includes the usual front part7 adapted to be opened and closed, this part comprising sections 8 and 9, the former being provided with buttons 10 adapted to engage the button holes 11 in the section 9. In using the structure of my invention however the part 7 may be used or not as desired. Extending beyond the section 9 on the left side of the trousers is a comparatively large flap 14.- which is a feature of my invention. This flap is roughly of triangular shape, its free edge 15 making an angle with the vertical as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. A slide fastener is employed to open and close the front part of the trousers, one member 17 of the fastener being secured to the inner face of the flap 14 at a little distance from the free ed e 15 leaving a margin 18, the purpose of w ich will be presently 7 described. The other member 19 is secured to an anchoring strip 20 which is sewed to the right side of the front of the trousers at an angle to the vertical. The fastener includes a member 22 ada ted to cause the members 7., 17 and 19 of the astener to interlock.
When the flap 14 is in closed position it is desired to conceal thefastener and the latter is concealed by the margin 18 adjacent the free edge 15 of the flap 14. The waistband 25 so is provided with a snap hook 26 which is sewed to a strap or tape 27 secured to the waistband. On the inner face of the left end portion of the waistband a ring 28 is provided, this ring being intended to engage the 8b snap hook 26. The ring 28 is held by a short strap or tape 29 secured to the inner face of the waistband.
It will readily be ap reciated from the aforegoing description 0 my invention that the structure described attains the objects hereinbefore set forth and that the invention is a very desirable advance in the art to which the invention pertains.-
What is claimed as new is:
A trousers comprising the usual vertical front fly including cooperating buttons and buttonholes, a triangular flap extending from one member of the fly and overlapping and extending beyond the other member, and a slide fastener, one member of which is secured to the inner face of said flap and the other member of which is secured to the outside of the trousers.
In testimony whereof I hereby aifix my signature.
SAMUEL BOSI-INACK.
