UNITED STATES .PATENT QFFICE. I
LOUIS ROSENFELD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN lNKSTAND-BASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,673, dated October 11, 1875; application filed August 6,1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS RosENFELD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have in vented an Improved In kstand-Base, whereof base, designed for holding securely thereon.
inkstands of various sizes and forms.
To this end my improvement consists in combining with a suitable base or tablet, A, a set of clamps, B, secured to the base. The form of the clamp is not important, nor the particular manner in which it is worked in attaching the inkstand.
The plan I have found to operate with success is, to have the clamps B, respectively, made in one, with a'slotted bar, 0, one to each clamp. Such bars are arranged to slide in depressions made therefor in the surface of the tablet A. They are thus adjustable toward and away from the common center of the base. D is a tightening-screw passing through A, and having a nut, E, underneath said base, which is slightly elevated on feet F; or the nut may be let into the under surface of A, as indicated in the drawing. The shank of the screw passes up through the slotted bars 0, and the flat head of the screw, when the nut is turned, is drawn down upon the adjustable bars, holding them securely in place, and against the inkstand embraced by the clamps B, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, representing an inkstand so secured to the base or tablet. The latter I shall make of a variety of sizes and shapes, according to their use and the variation of taste. The clamps will also be made both plain and ornamental,
I claim as my invention- The inkstand-base A, provided with adjustable clamps B on sliding bars 0, secured by a suitable tightening screw or screws.
' LOUIS ROSENFELD.
