JOHN JOSEPH NAG-LE, OF DUBLIN, IRELAND.
TOBACCO EIPE.
Application filed October 4, 1920. Serial No. 414,626.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN Josnrn. Naopn, a subject of the King of Great Britain, reslding at Norfolk Road, Cabra, Dublin, Co. Dublin, Ireland, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Tobacco Pipes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements tobacco pipes, the object being to provide improved means whereby the greater quan tity of the tobacco laden moisture is trapped before the smoke reaches the pipe stem or the mouth-piece thereof and the mouth of the user, another object being simpliclty n construction and low cost in manufacture in connection with said means.
Tobacco pipes have been previously constructed and arranged for attaining the above objects, and therefore I only claim the specific construction and arrangement of tobacco pipe in accordance with my invention described hereinafter and shown in the drawing.
The tobacco pipe according to my present invention, comprises a tobacco bowl and a perforated bottom forming an inside and outside parallel extension of the tobacco bowl and adapted to removably fit into the lower end of said tobacco bowl immediately below the entrance of the pipe stem to said tobacco bowl; and a reservoir or moisture trap is removably fitted into the under side of the said perforated bottom, said reservoir or moisture trap being non-perforated on its bottom, so that the greater quantity of tobacco laden moisture passes through said perforated bottom and into the said reservoir or trap in the process of smoking; and therefore a cooler and purer smoke is ensured for the user as the tobacco laden moisture drops through the perforated bottom aforesaid into the reservoir or trap from whence it may be subsequently removed in cleaning operations as and when required.
The accompanying explanatory drawing shows a sectional elevation of the tobacco pipe.
This tobacco pipe comprises a tobacco bowl 1 and a perforated bottom 2 (perfo-= rated at 3) which forms an inside and outside parallel extension of the tobacco bowl 1 and is adapted at 8 to removably fit or screw into the lower end of said tobacco bowl directly under or immediately below the smoke outlet 4 and the corresponding pipe stem 5 of' said tobacco bowl; and further consists of a reservoir or moisture trap 6 which at 7 is removably fitted or screwed into the under side of the removable bottom 2, the reservoir or moisture trap 6 being non-perforated on its bottom and so preventing any leakage of moisture through its bottom. The pipe bowl 1 is provided with the usual tobacco receptacle 9, the perforated removable bottom 2 being bored out to the same diameter.
Having described my invention, I claim 1. A tobacco pipe of the kind described herein, comprising a tobacco bowl, a perforated bottom forming an inside and outside parallel extension of said tobacco bowl and adapted to removably fit into the lower end of said tobacco bowl immediately below the entrance of the pipe stem to said tobacco bowl, a reservoir or moisture trap removably fitted into the under side of said perforated bottom, said reservoir or moisture trap being non-perforated on its bottom.
2. A tobacco pipe of the kind described herein, comprising, firstly a tobacco bowl, secondly, a perforated bottom. forming an inside and outside parallel extension of said tobacco bowl and adapted to removably screw into the lower end of said tobacco bowl directly under the stem thereof, and, thirdly, a reservoir or moisture trap removably screwed into the under side of said perforated and removable bottom, said reservoir or moisture trap being non-perforated on its bottom.
gagned by me this 20th day of September,
JOHN JOSEPH NAGLE.
