Description
E. D. NESTER.
CHILD'S CLOTHING. APPLICATION HLED FEB. 23, I922.
Patented Aug. 1, .1922.
nnnnnnunwoonynns'rn'aor GARDNER, ivrassncncsnrrs. 1 i 7 CH'ILDS CLOTHING.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ELLEN Donwooor Nns'rnn, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at G-ardner in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Clothing; and I do.
hereby declare the following to be a full,
1 clear, and exact description ofthe inven useful and eiiicient in use than those that have been heretofore proposed.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the novel details of construction and combinations of parts more fully hereinafter disclosed and particularly pointedout in the claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification:
Figure 1 illustrates the one piece garment in use on a child;
Figure 2 is a view from the rear of the one piece garment spread out; and
Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional View showing a portion of the rear and of the front of the garment.
1 indicates a blouse which may be made of any suitable material and which is pro vided with a back portion 2 and a front p01- tion 3. The back portion of the blouse is provided with a rear edge 41 which is or may be of the usual construction of blouses, but its front portion 3 is provided with an extension 5 which when spread out as illus trated in Figure 2 may be as long as from the arm pits to the rear edge a or it may be of any other dimensions desired.
To the lower portion 6 of said extension 5 is secured through an arc of say about 180 the waist band 7 of a pair of bloomers 8, so that the blouse 1, extension 5 and bloomers 8 are all in one piece. ,The waist band 7 of the bloomers is preferably gathered as illustrated at 9 and in said waist band is located an elastic band 10 which grips the waist of the child and thus holds the bloonr ers in place when they are lifted from the Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 1, 1922., f Annlication filed rem-nary as, 1922. Serial rid/538,586.
position shown in Figure 2 to theposit'ion shown in Figure 1.
In other words, referring moreparticu larly to Figure 3, the front portion of the blouse proper maybesaid to extend down to the folding line 11 whenthe extensiono begins. The said extension continues down to the waist band 7, and when the bloomers are in position on the child they are raised so as to produce the line of fold '11 which is on the same horizontal plane as the rear edge 4 of the back 2 of the blouse.
Stated in still other language, the appearance of the garment on thechild is of a two piece suit whereas the real construction is a one piece suit devoid of buttons.
In order to make a more sightly garment, the front portion 3 may be extended somei 1T snares a start with 1 v what more than 180 around the child.
That is to say, the seams 14; connecting the same length such a construction may be adopted. I
It will thus be seen that by providing the construction disclosed, I am enabled to produce a one piece suit which is devoid of buttons. Further, when placing the suit on the child it is only necessary to have the child step into the bloomers 8 and to slip the blouse over the childs head, when the bloomers may be pulled up into the position shown in Figure 8, when the elastic 10 holds the latter in place. 1
It is obvious thatthose skilled in the art may vary the details of construction as well as the arrangement ofparts without depart-i ing from the spirit of the invention, and therefore I do not wish to be limited to the above disclosure except 'as may be required a blouse and a pair oftrouser members, one
side only of the "blouse" provided with a COIltlIlllOllS extension; sald trousei lnemher,
permanently connected with the extremity of said extension onlyand said extension adapted to beioldedtOf form a lower edge of said blouse when the trouser members are inposition on the wearer, substantially as desorlbed.
on 2. A. one piece to form a portion of the lower edge, of the blouse when the trouser members" are in use on the wearer, and saldtr'ouser IneI'n buttonless suit eoznprising. a blouse member and a pair of trouser memhers, the blouse member provided with an extension permanently conneoting the trouser fnembers therewith" whioh is fold'ed hersprovided with a waist belt adapted to a bloomers provided with an elastic waist band to hold them in'pla'oe, substantially as described, I, p In testimony whereof I ffix my-signature. ELLENDUNWOODYNESTER.
