My invention relates to combination garments, and more particularly to a childs combination garment comprising a body or waist portion, pants or bloomers, and a skirt portion.
:5 It is a purpose of my invention to provide whatv is known as a one-piece garment comprising a waist, pants and a skirt portion that is so made that it will have a neat and attractive appearanceY and at the same time lcan be put on and taken off loA the child without any diiliculty, and which is so made that the same can be washed and ironed readily, due to the fact that when the garment is off the wearer it can be spread out in such a manner that all portions thereof are readily accessible for ironing purposes. y
Itis a purpose of. my invention to provide a gar-` ment of the above vmentioned character, which is simple in construction and which is so made that the same will hang from the shoulders entirely, there being no portions thereof that are supported from the hips or that must flt the body of the wearer tightly around the Waist portion. Thus a garment is provided which is more healthful than garments in which some portion thereof is supported by the hips or must of necessity t tightly around the waist of the wearerin order to remain in position.
More particularly itis a purpose of'my invention to provide a combination garment of the above mentioned character comprising a waist or body portion and a pants or bloomer portion that are permanently joined together, being preferably made out of the same piece of material, although this is not absolutely necessary, and a skirt pork tion that is permanently secured to the body or waist portion of the garment, vthe parts :being so related to each other that the garment can be readily put on or removed from the wearer and will have a neat and attractive appearance when 40 in position, the garment being provided with a drop seat portion that can be readily manipulated when this is desiredythe pants portionof the garment preferably being so constructed that thesame will have a closed crotch, and will have separable edge portions along the sides of the legs thereof that may be connected with and disengaged from each otherin order to operate said drop seat portion, the top ofwhich issecured to the body portion of the garment adjacent 50 the lower edge of said bodyportion to hold said seat portion in normal position.

ment is not being worn so that it can be readily laundered, and particularly can be readily ironed on all the surfaces thereof without any diiculty, this being accomplished by providing a skirt portion that is fastened to the body portion of the 5 garment normally only at one portion thereof, being otherwise detachable from the remainder of the garment so as to be free of the underlying portions Aof the garment, such as the pants portion thereof, so that said skirt portion can be spread out to simplify the ironing thereof. The only portion of the garment that cannot be spread out fiat is the waist Yor upper body portion thereof, and this can be ironed in a well known manner Without any diiculty.
It is a specific purpose of my invention to provide a combination garment comprising a waist portion, a pants portion continuous, with the waist portion, and preferably made in one piece with the Waist portion, which has a drop seat portion detachably connected at the free edge thereof with said waist portion, and a skirt portion permanently secured to the waist portion or body portion at the front side thereof only, and detachably secured to the body portion or waist portion at the back of said body or waist portion so that the skirt portion will be held in encircling relation to the body of the wearer, and overlying the pants portion of the garment. Preferably the skirt portion is made with free sidewing portions extending in opposite directions from the central permanently secured portion thereof, which side wing portions are adapted to be passed around the body of the wearer in opposite directions with the free substantially vertical edge portions overlapping, and said skirt portion is provided with means for securing said wing portions detachably to the body portion of the garment at theback thereof adjacent the bottom edge of the back of said body portion and with means for detachably securing the overlapping edges thereof together. Y
Preferably the skirt portion is provided with means for concealing the fasteningV devices `that secure the skirt portion and body portion detach- 45 ably together, and said means `also preferably is so made as to normally conceal the overlapping edge portion at the rear thereof.
The skirt portion is preferably secured centrally of itself tothe body portion of the gar-` ment or waist portion thereof, vand preferably has an upward extension that is permanently secured to said waist or body portion. This extension may vary in'extent and width, as will be obvious as the detailed description proceeds. Also the appearance thereof can be considerably varied in order to obtain garments of different styles and varying appearance. The particular method of securing the skirt portion permanently to the body portion may also be varied, as will be obvious, as long as the same is permanently secured to said body portion and is adapted to be spread out in the manner above referred to.

Referring in detail to the drawing, my improved garment comprises a body portion or waist por- `ion l0, which may be made in any desired manner or style, being shown as being a sleeveless garment having the arm openings 11, the collar 12 and having a slit at 13, which has the edges thereof secured together at the top thereof in any suitable manner as is customary, so that thevfastoning means can be released'to enlarge the neck opening'o'f the garment for slipping the waist or body portion over the head of the wearer.
Extending downwardly from and, preferably, continuous with-the'material of the waist portion lil-at the front thereof, is a pants portion comprising a front portion or forward panel 14, and a rear portion or drop seat portion 15, which is connected with the front portion 14 by means of a crotch portion 16 of reduced diameter, the same having the curved cut out edges 17 on opposite sides thereof so as to iit around the legs of the wearer to provide leg openings for the pants portion of the garment when the free side edges 18 of the rear half of said portion 15 are s'ecured to the free side edges- 19 of the front panel or forward half 14 of the pants portion of the garment.
Any suitable fastening means may be provided for connecting these two halves of the pants portion of the garment together along the edgesy '18 and 19. The portion of the garment is provided with button holes 20 in the form of the invention shown, which cooperate with the buttons 21 on the portion 14 of the garment to secure the edges 18 and 19 together so `as to close the pants portion of the garment along the sides thereof. A bloomer or pants portion is thus provided that has a closed crotch and which is adapted to be unfastened or opened up in a similar manner to a romper.
The portions 14 and 15 of the garment are preferably tapered so as to widen toward the crotch portion 16 so as to provide the desired amount of fullness in the garment to permit ease of movement in walking or for similar purposes. The narrow end of the portion 15, which becomes the top portion of the drop seat of the garment, is preferably provided with a pocket therein at 22, in which elastic 23 is provided, which will hold the top edge of the garment in contracted condition and hold the same up in proper position when the button holes 24 are engaged by the buttons 25 provided on the body portion 10, the body portion 10 being provided with a belt portion or reinforcing strip 26 near the bottom edge thereof on the back side of said body portion 10, lto which reinforcing portion the buttons 25 are secured.
