In order to accomplish the desired result, use is made of a band adapted to pass between the vlegs of-the wearer and connecting the back with the front of the garment at the inside thereof to provide leg or drawer portions with full skirt effect, the said con necting band extending wholly within the garment and being invisible and not extendlng below the lower edge of the garment.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The waistband 13 connects the skirt or petticoat 10 with the upper garment portion 11. To
the inside of the skirt or petticoat 10 and at the front and rear thereof are sewed or otherwise secured depending flaps 1a and 15 and a connecting band 16 is detachably connected at its ends with the free ends of the said flaps 14 and 15 by suitable fastening devices 17 and 18 such as fasteners of the stud and socket type. The flaps 14 and 15 skirt or petticoat 10 a waistband 13, and the said flaps and connecting band 16 are of a suficient width so that the connecting band provides leg or drawer portions with the corresponding lower portions of the skirt or petticoat 10 without, however, interfering with the full skirt efl'ect of the skirt or petticoat 10. The connecting band 16 extends wholly within the garment and is hence not visible and does not extend below the lower edge of the garment, which lower edge is usually formed by lace or other trimming, the ap pearance of which is not marred in the least by the connecting band 16. In practice, the band 16 as well preferably made of double layers of fabric material, as plainly indicated in Figs. 5 and 6, the layers being fastened together by stitches along their margins to hold the layers together and to increase the strength and durability of the flaps and the band. By making the band 16 detachable at both flaps 14 and 15 it can be readily removed for washing purposes whenever it is desired to do so. The-band 16 is also primarily intended for producing a drawer effect without marring the appearance of the full distance below the sanitary devices if so desired.
