body of the wearer, yet then with thewaist portion ofthe garment and its belt'addition, as these ordinarily would be viewed, quite conventional in appearance.

The invention as herein illustrated is applied to a pair of trousers, but, as will be understood, it is with like advantages also applicable to slacks, skirts and the like.

One of the features of the invention, additional to those already mentioned, is that a slidable belt member does not have to be employed, either at the inside or outside of the waist portion of the garment; another such feature is that while an elastic belt member is employed, the

'major width thereof is neither at the inside nor at the outside of the garment, but, instead, such major width portion is present as a fully girthwisely extending upward prolongation of the upper limit of the garment; another such feature is the combination with the said elastic belt member of a minor complementary belt structure in the form of two bucklably connectible inelastic belt sections, each fixedly attached to the outer side of the elastic belt member at the end of said inelastic section remote from its end to be bucklably connected to the other such section.

Another feature is the inclusion of dual fastening means for the ends of the belt component at the front center of the garment, with said fastening means consistingin part of the buckle meansgof said inelastic sections and in part of a fastening means for the ends of the elastic belt member, and with said two fastening means so relatively disposed that when the buckle means is closed, following closing of the fastening means for the ends of the elastic belt member the lastnamed fastening means is wholly concealed.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claim in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

In the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure:

Fig. l is fragmentarily a front perspective view of a pair of trousers equipped with a now approved embodiment of the belt component of the new combination.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical detail section, taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3, drawn to about the same scale as Fig. 2, is a fragmentary collective view, illustrative of the front portionof the combined belt and garment, with the end portions of both parts of the belt component detached, and consequently with both said fastening means opened.

Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 2, illustrating a modification.

Referring now to the drawing more in detail,

the pair of trousers illustrated at I0 is shown as having the usual front fly ll, so that, as is customary, this garment may be widely opened at the front thereof and below its top. Such top, in the present case, is shown, at l2, as being placed at about the usual location of the bottom edge of the conventional outer endwisely slidable leather belt held at the waistband portion of trousers of the ordinary cut'by way of a plurality of belt-loops spaced around the trousers top.

The aforesaid elastic belt member, this designated I4, is suitably secured, all along its length and at its lower marginal portion, as by stitching as indicated, to the inside of the trou ers ill, with its said lower marginal portion inside the trousers and with the bottom edge of the belt I4 slightly below the top l2 of the trousers.

This belt member I4, desirably a length of elastic strip material woven to be selvaged along opposite sides, is shown as finished off at its opposite ends by inturning such ends and stitching the inturned portions as shown to provide at one end of the belt member a two-ply structure I 5 and at the other end of the belt member a two-ply structure It. Stitching of the belt member 14, to the trousers while said member is in stetched condition results in the trousers ma-' terial adjacent to the trousers top 12 becoming suitably gathered, as at I4 so that later stretch of the belt member I4 longitudinally thereof will be permitted because accompanied by a corresponding increase in the length of the trousers top i2 due to opening up of such gathers.

As aforesaid, a minor complementary belt structure constitutes, in combination with the elastic belt member M, the complete belt component. Of said minor structure, its two inelastic belt sections, these respectively marked I1 and [8, are herein shown as straps, as of leather or the like.

Said strap 51 has an enlarged end, and at such end said strap is fixedly attached, as by a stitching 15, to" the outerside of the end* portion of: the elastic belt member it adjacent to the two-- ply structure 15 but at some distance back from said structure. The strap l8 has a similarly en-.- larged end, and at such end this strap is fixedly attached, as by a stitching 20, to the outerside' of the end portion of the elasticbelt 14 adjacent. to the two-ply structure IE but at some distanceback from said structure.

The strap 1? beyond its said enlarged end is. extended toward the strap 18 by a tongue prolongation having spaced therealong a plurality of holes 2!. In a garment ofthev trouser type having a flyopening extendeddownward from the top edge. thereof and an elongated elasticmember of a length. corresponding to the circumference of the top edge of the garment secured along its bottom edges to the top edge of-the garment, said elastic member having its free ends overlappedover the fly opening, and aligned non-elastic belt members secured at their outer ends to the elastic-member on opposite sidesof said overlapped. ends, means releasably securing together said overlapped ends of the elastic member, and. means releasably-securing together the inner ends of said belt members.-
