The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part 'of the same.
1'0 all whom it may concern: s
Be it known that I, JAMES H. MALLORY,` of" La Porte, in the county of La Porte and State of Indiana,
have invented a new and valuable Improvement in" ironing-Tables; and I do hereby declare that the fol-.
lowing is a full, clear, and exactdescription :of thev construction and operation of the same, reference be`-- ing had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification and to the lcttei-sand liguresofmeference marked thereon.'
Figure 1 of the drawing is Lbottoru view of my in'- vention.
Figure 2 is a central vertical section ofthesanle.
My invention relates/to .an 'mprovernent on my folding ironing-table, for which etters Patent were granted to me March l, 1870; and
Itconsists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, whereby the height of' the table can be easily and readily adjusted to suit the convenience of the person using the same.
The letter A ofthe drawing designates the top of the table made in the usual elongated oval form.
B represents the longer legs of the table, hinged to the under side of the ironing-board A,`at the larger end of the saine.
C represent-s the shorter legs of the table, having their ends arranged to' fit into stop-niortises in the ironing-board.
Dis the spring, which keeps the board Aduly pressed down against the ends of the legs C.
All the above parts appear in the patent above The improvement consists in making the table adjustable, as hereinafter described. j E represents an arm, provided with the adjusting v perfor-ations a a,- and pivoted to the bolt b of the hinge bywhich the legs B are attached to the end of the ironing-board.
F designates a lodv passing through the legs C, and 'securing the same to the arm E.
c represents a shoulder, formed on each of' the legs C, and ,designed to abut against the adjacent bar of the leg B.
In one of the legs C is xed a piu, e,.designed to slide in a slot, n, in the adjacent bar of the legs B.4
' A pivoted stop, d, is attached to the under side of this leg'B, which is designed to abut against the atljacent leg G, when they are braced in position.
By adjusting the rod F in the perfor-ations of the arm E, the height of the table may be regulated at will.
In combination, the board A, legsU, spring D, arm
E, shoulders o c, legs B, and key F, substantially as specified and shown.
In testimony that I claim the above, I have hereunto subscribed my name. in the presence ot two witnesses.
