IMPROVE!) CRIB AND CRADLE.
The Schedule referred to :lu these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. EARNEST, of Parkersburg, in the county of Wood and in the State of IVest Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Crib and Cradle; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and' exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of Vmy invention consists in the constrnction and arrangement of a combined rocking-cradle "and stationary bed for childlcn, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to theannexed drawing, in which-f vFigure lis a perspective view of the entire combined crib and cradle;
Figures 2 and 3 are enlarged inside views of the On theinner Sides of the ends of the'stand D are secured hooks or keepers, a a, of the construction shown in figs. 2 and 3, and on the inner sides ot' the end pieces C C'of the crib are projecting lugs or pins b l), on which the hooks or keepers a a ca-tcn, for the purpose of holding the cradle to its proper place, and preventing it from rocking over.
At the lower ends of the keepers et e are pivoted stops, d (l, for the purpose of making the crib stationary when desired.
To these stops is attached a wire, e, passing through a slot in the. stand D, as shown' in g. 4, and projecting on the outside, so as to be used with convenience in sliding back and forth to move the stops d rl. By this means the crib A B C may be readily changed from a rocking-cradle to a stationary bed.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isi The combination of the crib A B C, stand D', keepers a a, pins b b, stopsll d, and wire e, allV constructed and arranged to operate substantially' in the manner e and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that 'I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day of April, 18170.
