Letters Patent 1Vo..65,520, dated June 4, 1867 IMPROVED FOLDING CHAIR.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that l, GEORGE E. WHITMORE, of Housatonic, in the county of Berkshire, and Stateof Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful improvement in Camp or Folding Chairs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had "to the accompanying drawing, through letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 represents a. perspective view of a chair constructed on my plan.

Figure 2, a vertical section of the lower end of one of the arm-posts.

Figure 4, a similar viewl of one of the wrists formed upon the headers of the cross-legs.

The same parts occurring in the several gules are indicated, by the same letters.

My improvement consists in a. novel construction and combination of parts, whereby a' more solid and durable chair isprduced, and which can also be'folded more compactly than those heretofore made.

To enableothers to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe it by referring to the drawings,

'A A representthe headers, which connect and are firmly attached to the upper ends of each pair of legs. On each of these headers are formed two wrists E, lig. 4, to which'are attached the arm and back-postsB B by means of strapsfD passed around them and secured to the stub end ofthe posts B by screws, bolts, or other Asuitable means These straps D have slots G formed in that portion which encircles the wrist E for the insertion of a fixed stop-pin to prevent the arms folding in beyond the desired position. p

Having thusdescribed my invention, what I claim as new, and` desire to secure by Letters rPatent, is-

The combination of the arm-posts B, straps D, and headers A with their stop-pins and slots G, constructed GE. E. WHITMORE.
