To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VICTOR GUINZBURG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby Pants or Diaper-Covers, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by drawings.

This invention relates to baby pants, otherwise known as baby diaper covers, and the objects of theinvention are to prevent escape of moisture therefrom.

In the construction preferred the pants are securely confined about the childs legs and the edges of the crotch portion drawn upward tending thereby not only to hold the edges against the legs but also permitting the crotch to be substantially bagged.

The invention as embodied in the best form known to me is illustrated in the ac-' companying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a front View with the flaps of the garment buttoned up; Fig. 2 is a face view showing in full the baby pants flattened out with the flaps connected to each other, and showing in dotted lines the flaps disconnected and spread out.

The baby pants are substantially a one piece garment which comprises a back B and front and side flap pieces C, C and D. Side flaps C- have buttonholes E. Flap D is equipped with cooperating buttons G for connecting the flaps C, C to flap D as shown.

The garment is' cut from one piece of material to shape substantially as shown being of least width at its crotch. From the crotch the garment widens upward front and back to form the legholes. The crotch H is preferably baggy to better inclose the diapers when the garment is worn. The edges J of the leg openings K are preferably out on a smooth curve as shown in Fig. 2. Drawing strings or tape L are run in the edges of the legholes, for purposes presently described. When in use, the flaps of the garment are buttoned as shown and said drawing strings or tape L are drawn upon and tied.

It will be seen that the finished garment when in use fits snugly around the crotch and wldens upward to the topof the leg holes, thenceit narrows to the waist line. The back may be made adjustable by drawing strings tying together at M.

The tapes L from the crotch extend upward and outward, at frontand back as plainly shown, and for this reason: the tightening of the tape, as shown in the figures, draws upward the edges ofthe crotch portion, in the direct-ion of the arrows thus forming the crotch portion into a baggy shape thereby better confining its contents and preventing escape of moisture. The tightening of the tape further results in the leg opening K being correspondingly contracted, this contracting confining the edges to the leg more closely all around for the same object.

I prefer to make the garment of lightweight impervious wash-material thereby rendering it hygienic, and easily laundried.

Of course by tape I intend to include any suitable drawing string or equivalent means for tightening the edges as explained.

I claim and desire to obtain by Letters Patent the following:

1. Impervious or moisture proof baby pants which when unfolded are substantially flat-and which have side flaps and a front flap which at the vicinity of the crotch portion widens forward and has means for securing it in front atpoints more widely apart than the crotch portion, whereby the crotch portion may be baggy and hold closely to the legs toward the front and drawing tapes for tightening the edges of said crotch portion whereby the said tapes tend to draw said edges outward toward the front of the crotch portion.

2. Impervious or moisture proof baby pants having a front flap which widens from the crotch forward and is provided with means for securing it with the edges of the specification in the presence of two subscribcrotch portion of the flap extended forward, ing witnesses.
