BOYS BLOUSE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 29, 1914.
Application filed October 29, 1912. Serial No. 728,367.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK I H. Sol-mime, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in New Rochelle, county of W estchester, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boys Blouses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved boys blouse in which the waistband of the same can readily adjust itself to the'sizes of the waist of boys of different sizes and ages, without requiring a hemmed lower edge and a draw-string or band in the same;
and for this purpose the invention consists of a boys blouse of the construction hereinafter described and finally pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front-elevation of my improved boys blouse, in which the front corners are folded up so as to show the rearportion of the waistband. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line 2, 2, Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a detail horizontal section showing the adjusting strap and its connection with the Waistband of the blouse, on a larger scale, and Fig. 4 is a similar section of a modified form of the adjusting strap.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the different figures of the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, a represents a boys blouse, which is preferably made of the usual washable fabric. The bottom of the blouse is drawn in somewhat above the waistband b and closed in front by means of underlapping and overlapping portions having buttons and buttonholes. The rearpart of the waistband .7) is provided with three buttonholes b to which is applied an elastic waist-adjusting strap d, which is considerably shorter than the distance between the outermost buttonholes b and provided with three buttons 03 that are inserted into the middle and outer buttonholes and form thereby folds.
The blouse is made in different sizes, so that when the elastic strap d is applied to the waistband, each size can be made to fit.
with the garments,
boys having different sizes of waist, as the elastic strap gives sufficiently so that the folds are stretched and the blouse and its waistband fit snugly around the waists. When the blouse is to be washed, the elastic strap is detached, it being reapplied to the buttonholes on the waistband when the blouse is to be worn again. 1
For boys having smaller than the average sizes of waists, two auxiliary buttons (2 are added inside of the outermost button, as shown in Fig. 4, so that the blouse can also be snugly fitted to the waists of such boys. In place of buttons and buttonholes, means operating in the same manner may be used. The advantages are that in washable blouses the .elastic draw-strings or bands are dispensed with, which, as they are washed are soon useless, while the tying of the dr aw-strings and the unsightly dangling of their ends are dispensed wit I have shown one embodiment of my invention, but it is clear that changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claim.
I claim:
In a boys blouse, thecombination of a waistband having button-holes in its rearportion, a strap composed of elastic material only, and alongside the waistband, and provided with a button at the center thereof, and an outer button at each end of the strap, said buttons being adapted to be passed through said button-holes correspondingly arranged, the elastic strap being shorter than the distance between the outer holes of the waistband for forming folds or plaits in the waistband over the buttons for concealing the buttons when said waistband is folded. 1
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two subscriblng witnesses.
FREDERICK H. SOHNEER.
