KOPEL SHAKOFSKY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YOEK.
GARMENT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KornL SHAKOFSKY, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to wearing apparel and more particularly to a combined dress and apron.
It has for an object to provide a means for securing an apron to the waist band in such a way that the apron may be disposed outside of the skirt for protection or it may be placed inside the skirt if so desired.
A further object of this invention is a provision of means permitting the transposition of the apron from the outside to the inside of the garment.
A further object of this invention is the provision of means for closing the opening through which the apron is passed in its transposition.
A further object of this invention is a provision of means for permitting the construction of an underskirt within the garment in the making of the garment.
Further objects will be apparent from the following specification, appended claims and drawings, in which, a
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a dress made in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a sectional view through a portion of the garment showing parts of the garment in perspective and Fig. 3 is a similar view showing the outside of the garment.
Referring to the drawings forming part of this application, 10 indicates a waist, 11 a skirt and 12 the waist band or belt. The band 13 may be provided within the garment under the belt and secured thereto by stitching 1st and 15.
The belt 12 has a tab 16 formed thereon and that portion of the belt from the ends of the tab and under the belt is not secured to the skirt nor is the band 13 secured for a similar portion, by which construction the opening is formed between the waist and skirt which opening is normally closed by the tab 16. The stitching 15 continues along the top of the skirt under the flap 16 and holds the upper edge of an apron 17 which Specification of Letters Patent.

apron may be disposed to hang either outside or inside of the skirt 11 as desired. The lining of the belt 12 and band 13 may be provided with button- holes 18, 19 and 20 in which a button 21 carried by a tongue 22 engages. The buttonholes 19 and 20 are provided to receive the button 21 carried by the tongue 22 when it is desired to fold the apron 17 into compact form and to retain the apron within the pocket formed by the outer and inner waistbands 12 and 13 respectively either of the buttonholes 19 or 20 being used as desired. This tongue is also secured by the stitching 15 under the tab 16 and when the apron is suspended over the outside of the skirt, the button 21 may engage the button-hole 18 to hold the tab 16 down but when the apron 17 is suspended within the skirt, a button 23 may be secured within the button-hole 18 to likewise hold the tab 16 down to close the opening thereunder.
In making the garment, the underskirt 24 may be secured to the waist band by the stitching 15 in which event, the apron 17 is suspended within the underskirt when placed inside the garment.
Various modifications may be made within the scope of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof and the drawings are submit-ted for illustrative purposes only.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a garment, a skirt, a waist band secured thereto except for a small portion thereof to form an opening between said waistband and skirt, a tab formed on said waist band over said opening, an apron secured to said skirt about said opening, said apron being transposable through said opening and a tongue secured to said skirt to engage the end of said tab.
2. In a garment, a skirt, a waist band secured thereto except for a small portion thereof to form an opening, an apron secured to said skirt about said opening, a tab formed on said waist band to form aclosure for said opening, a tongue secured to said skirt, said apron and tongue being transposable through said opening and fastening means carried by said skirt tongue and tab for engagement with one another dependent upon the position of the apron.
3. In a garment, a skirt, a waistband secured thereto except for a small portion spect to said skirt, a tongue carried by said skirt and means for retaining said apron in the pocket formed in said Waistband to said tongue and tab formed on said Waistband.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.

thereof to form an opening between said Waistband and skirt, said Waistband comprising an inner and outer ply of material, a pocket formed between the inner and outer plies of material in proximity to the opening between said Waistband and skirt, a tab formed by said Waistband to form a closure for said opening, an apron secured to said skirt in proximity to said opening, Witnesses: said apron belng transposable from the 111- Gnonsn WIENER, side to the outside or vlce Versa with re HUGO Moon.
