Description

光纖轉接器模組
本發明大體而言係關於光纖電信設備。更具體言之,本發明係關於光纖轉接器模組及用於固持光纖模組之底盤。
在光纖電信系統中,藉由光學分割由單股電纜載運之訊號或藉由分開多股電纜之個別光纖將傳輸電纜之光纖分成多個股線係平常的。另外,當安裝此等系統時,吾人已知在該等設施中提供額外容量以支持光纖之未來增長及利用。通常在此等設施中,包括分束器或扇出端之模組用以提供傳輸光纖與用戶光纖之間的連接。為降低初始設施之成本及複雜性且仍提供針對未來擴展之選項,一能夠安裝多個模組之模組安裝底盤可用於此設施中。
雖然底盤可接受若干模組,但初始設施可僅包括安裝於底盤中或足以適合於當前需要之較少模組。此等底盤可經組態而具有對一或多個面之有限接取,或可安裝於夾緊位置。另外,某些此等底盤可預先組態而具有傳輸電纜之最大容量以適應且連接至可在將來安裝之模組。由於需要接取底盤內之組件以在安裝新模組之過程中進行清潔,因此底盤之某一預防措施或特徵將理想地允許使用者接取並清潔此等預先連接且預先安裝之傳輸電纜的連接器。
亦需要組態底盤以確保模組得以正確安裝且與底盤內其它組件對準以與預先連接且預先安裝之傳輸電纜配合。
本發明係關於一種光纖轉接器總成,其包括在一體式形成之主體中所包括的複數個轉接器。該等轉接器中之每一者可包括一安裝在一端內之保護性擋板。該轉接器總成可經組態以安裝至一底盤且定位該等轉接器以用於收納安裝至該底盤之電信模組的光纖連接器。
現將詳細參考在隨附圖式中說明的本發明之例示性態樣。無論任何可能之處,相同之參考數字皆將貫穿該等圖式用於指示相同或類似部分。
圖1說明了具有用於安裝複數個模組14之安裝位置12的電信總成10。總成10包括底盤或外殼16,其具有第一主面18、第二主面20及在第一主面與第二主面之間延伸的一對相對橫向面22。安裝凸緣24可安裝至通常互相相對而延伸的該等主面中之每一者。第二或替代安裝凸緣26亦可安裝至該等主面中之一者以提供將外殼16安裝至一特定尺寸或形狀之設備架、箱體或其它類型之設施的選項。
外殼16界定一前開口28,經由該前開口28模組14被插入於外殼16之內部30內(於下文圖7中展示)。開口32可界定於橫向面22中以允許人員接取內部30。開口32可包括一圍繞周邊之保護襯墊34以防止可能經由開口32中之一者穿進或穿出內部30之手的摩擦及其它傷害。經由圖1中之開口32可見的係安裝於前開口28內之模組14中之一者的外殼40。凸緣24及26可包括複數個扣件開口36,其用於在電信設施中所需之處安裝外殼16。
現參看圖2,每一模組14包括一鄰近於第二主面20之可解除式鎖扣42。如下文中於圖10中可見且參看圖10所描述,鎖扣42嚙合外殼16之一部分以將模組14固持於前開口28內且亦可加以偏轉以允許模組14自外殼16抽取。每一模組14亦可包括自前面46延伸之一或多個電纜出口44。如下文將關於圖10所描述,電纜出口44允許模組14內之電信電纜被引導出模組14。如圖2中所示,模組14之前面46關於前開口28成角,此可有助於在電信設施中向所要位置引導電纜離開模組14。預期在本揭示內容之範疇內可使前面46通常平行於前開口28處的橫向面22之前邊緣38。
現參看圖3,模組14包括不等長凸緣48及50,其被分別收納在具有對應尺寸之槽52及54內。凸緣48及槽52之尺寸小於凸緣50及槽54。設定槽52之尺寸使得雖然凸緣48可收納在槽52內,但較大之凸緣50將不適合。此確保模組14以特定所要之定向被定位於前開口28內。類似凸緣被描述於共同擁有之美國專利第5,363,465號中,其揭示內容以引用之方式併入本文。與閂鎖42相對且於每一安裝位置12處安裝至外殼16的為一藉由蝶形螺釘58而被可解除地固持於前開口28內之轉接器固持器56。下文關於圖9至16進一步詳細地描述了轉接器固持器56。
現參看圖4及5,外殼16進一步包括一相對於前開口28之後面60,其大體上封閉了外殼16之後部。可提供穿過後面60之開口以允許電纜或空氣經過,但預期使用者接取外殼16之內部30將經由前開口28而進行。如圖6所示,在模組14 之一端上,可包括唇狀物或指凹把手62以有助於模組14自外殼16移除。指凹把手62較佳地定位於模組14上而與閂鎖42相對,使得使用者可用手指或手施加相對力以安全地抓緊模組且將其自外殼16移除。
現參看圖7,模組14之閂鎖42包括凹區66,其嚙合安裝位置12之邊緣64以將模組14固持於前開口28內之適當位置。凹區66經形成而接近閂鎖42之遠端且可撓性部分68自凹區66延伸到至模組14之第一面70的連接點。可撓性部分68可彈性形變且允許使用者偏轉閂鎖42以使凹區66與邊緣64脫離且自外殼16移除模組14或用於使閂鎖42在模組14被插入於前開口28中時偏轉並嚙合邊緣64。模組14包括第二相對面72及後面78。中間後面76藉由插入面部分74而形成於第二面72中。一對光纖連接器80定位於後面76中以與安裝至外殼16之內部30內的轉接器固持器56之光纖轉接器配合。
模組外殼40亦包括在第一面70、第二面72、後面78與前面46之間延伸的第一橫向面82。第二橫向面84封閉前面46與後面78之間的模組外殼40之相對面但延伸超出面70及72以形成凸緣48及50(凸緣50在圖7中不可見)。在圖8中,凸緣50隨著第二橫向面84延伸超出模組14之面70而變得可見。模組外殼40可包括面70及72與後面78之間的曲率變化段87。變化段87可經成形以隨著電纜延伸至轉接器88而提供對內部30內之電纜的彎曲半徑保護。或者,取決於將組件置放於模組外殼40內之需要及製造模組外殼40之效率,面70及72可直接終止於後面78處(未顯示於圖式中)。
圖9展示了具有自內部30分解脫離之轉接器固持器56的總成10。固持器56包括一延伸部分86以固持且定位一對轉接器88以嚙合模組14之連接器80。每一轉接器88包括第一端或後端90及第二端或前端92,且第一端及第二端之每一者經調適以收納可終止光纖電纜之光纖連接器。
圖10展示了具有第一電纜94之總成10的橫截面,該第一電纜94自連接器80延伸至安裝於模組外殼40之內部96內的光學組件98。光學組件98可為分束器或扇出端或另一類型之光學有效元件。第一電纜94可為具有複數股光纖的多股光纖電纜且光學組件98可為扇出端以將個別股線分離為複數個第二電纜100之每一者。第二電纜100自光學組件98延伸至電纜出口44。或者,第一電纜94可為單光纖,其訊號藉由光學組件98(其為分束器)而分離,且載運來自第一電纜94之訊號之部分的複數個第二電纜100可延伸至電纜出口44。電纜出口44處光纖及護套之配置可為如共同擁有的美國專利申請案第10/658,802號中所揭示,其揭示內容以引用之方式併入本文。
外部電纜102可延伸至轉接器88之後端90且藉由連接器104來終止。連接器104可收納在後端90中以光學連接至模組14之連接器80。電纜102可自外殼16之內部30延伸穿過外殼16中之面18、20或22中的一者中。
現參看圖11,總成10具有一自安裝位置12中之一者移除的模組且其包括在彼安裝位置12中的替代轉接器固持器156。固持器156包括在轉接器88之第二端92之前的護罩 108。在某些設施中,在將模組14置放於相關安裝位置12中之前,外殼16可加以安裝且電纜102被通向且連接至轉接器88之第一端90。若電纜102被照射且傳輸光訊號,則護罩108將防止可損壞眼睛或其它敏感器官或附近之通信設備的對此等訊號之意外曝露。
在圖12中,固持器156包括一穿過延伸部分86之開口124,經由該開口124可安裝轉接器88。蝶形螺釘58延伸穿過前凸緣114,且一對壁嚙合凸緣116自相鄰前凸緣114向後延伸。或者,可使用其它可解除特徵(諸如搭扣配合裝置、直角回轉扣件、膨脹閂鎖或類似特徵)以替代固持器56或156上之蝶形螺釘58。定位於每一凸緣116之前端與前凸緣114之間的係槽118。朝向凸緣116之後端的係一對壁槽120。如圖10所示,內壁110定位於自第一主表面18向內偏移之內部30內。壁槽120沿內壁110之兩個面延伸。第一主表面18之折進前向邊緣112嚙合槽118。外殼16與固持器156之間的此等嚙合可正確地定位自內部30內之內壁110偏移的轉接器以嚙合模組14之後面76上的連接器80。一中央部件122自壁凸緣116之間的前凸緣114延伸至延伸部分86以正確地將轉接器88定位於前開口28與後面60之間的內部30內。
現參看圖13至16,固持器156之延伸部分86包括複數個扣件開口124以用於將轉接器88安裝至延伸部分86。扣件126可延伸穿過轉接器88之側凸緣128以允許轉接器88之緊固安裝。將轉接器88展示為SC式樣的連接器,儘管在本揭示 內容之範疇內可使用其它類型、式樣及格式之轉接器,且連接器80及104經改變以與此等替代轉接器配合。在所示之該等轉接器88中之每一者內可為一對準裝置(諸如分離式套管130)以正確定位終止於套圈中且由連接器80及104固持的光纖。此等對準裝置及終止套圈在此項技術中已為吾人所熟知。
如圖15所示,當自側面觀察時護罩108係彎曲的,使得隨著模組14經由前開口28被插入內部30中時護罩108將藉由模組14而被偏轉,從而使得連接器80可與轉接器88配合。護罩108較佳地由可彈性形變之材料製成,當模組14自安裝位置12抽取時,護罩108將返回至圖15所示之位置。護罩108可藉由一對扣件(諸如螺釘132)連接至中央部件122。或者,護罩108可藉由與固持器156一體式形成或藉由點焊或其它固定技術連接至固持器156。由於後面60封閉外殼16之後面使得安裝於安裝位置12處之任何模組14不接取後面,從而如所示不需要提供一用以阻斷來自每一轉接器88之第一端90之光的第二護罩108。然而,若將任何敏感設備安裝於模組14或外殼16內,則需要具有一阻斷轉接器88之第一面90的第二護罩108。
在該等安裝位置12中之一者處將模組14插入外殼16中可包括首先解開蝶形螺釘58且經由前開口28自內部30移除固持器56或156。電纜102較佳包括在內部30內之足夠額外長度或鬆弛部分以允許轉接器88經由開口28被牽拉。一旦定位於內部30之外,電纜102之連接器104即可自轉接器88之 第一端90移除以允許清潔在電纜102內光纖之一拋光端面。連接器104可接著重新插入於第一端90內。固持器56或156可重新插入於內部30內使得該固持器嚙合內壁110、向內彎曲之延伸部分112及重新緊固之蝶形螺釘58。將模組14插入於前開口28內開始將模組14配合至外殼16及轉接器88。隨著插入模組14,凸緣48及50分別嚙合槽52及54。隨著連接器80接近轉接器88之第二端92,連接器80及第二面72之部分嚙合且偏轉護罩108(若存在)。模組14之進一步插入將連接器80帶進轉接器88且與其接觸,且該等連接器被收納在第二端92內。隨著插入模組14,閂鎖42向內偏轉且接著回彈使得凹區66嚙合邊緣64。模組14現安裝在前開口28及內部30內之安裝位置12處且在適當位置以經由模組內部96內之第一電纜94、光學組件98及第二電纜100處理且傳輸來自電纜102之訊號。
現參看圖17至19,電信總成之一替代實施例200包括安裝在底盤204之前部214中之安裝位置206中的複數個光纖分束器模組202。底盤204包括頂部208、一對相對面210及自鄰近前部214之面210向外延伸的一對安裝凸緣。底盤204亦包括一後部216。前部214界定安裝位置206之一對垂直堆疊,其自彼此前後偏移以提供用於自模組202延伸之光纖電纜的改良電纜路徑。
圖20至26說明了具有安裝至該等安裝凸緣212中之一者及底部218的電纜管理結構220之總成200。該等模組202中之兩者已自安裝位置206移除。現具體參看圖21及22,每一 模組202包括高達四個面向後面的連接器226,其被收納在定位於每一安裝位置206處的轉接器總成222內。如所示,底盤204之後部216係開放的以用於延伸至轉接器總成222之後面的光纖電纜之進入,且後部電纜保護器被安裝鄰近於後部216以有助於將此等後部進入之電纜引導至轉接器總成222。每一轉接器總成222包括高達四個的光纖轉接器232,其經組態以在前端收納該等面向後面之連接器226中之一者且在相對端收納後部進入之光纖光纜的連接器。
現亦參看圖27至31,當嚙合自模組202之面延伸至模組202之連接器226用以嚙合轉接器總成222之位置的凸緣230時,每一安裝位置206包括一對相對槽228。
圖32至35展示了自底盤204移除之轉接器總成222。轉接器總成222包括四個整合之轉接器232,且每一轉接器具有後端234及前端236。如圖32及33中所示,塵塞238定位於每一後端234中且一延伸之雙塵塞240被插入於每一對轉接器232之前端內以密封轉接器232之內部而遠離污染物。轉接器總成222包括轉接器外殼部分246(其內設置有轉接器232)及底盤安裝滑桿248,該底盤安裝滑桿248經由前端214收納在底盤204內且與底盤204協作來界定安裝位置206。凸緣250自安裝滑桿248延伸,且用於在底盤204內緊固轉接器總成222之蝶形螺釘252延伸穿過凸緣250。螺釘252定位於開口254內,且較佳為繫留扣件,儘管可使用其它扣件。
如圖33所示,每一轉接器232定位於外殼部分246內。轉接器232之元件可經由開口256而定位於轉接器凹槽258 中。每一轉接器232之元件包括套圈對準套管260及一對內半殼262。此等元件以類似於1993年5月20日頒佈之美國專利第5,317,663號中所述之方式的方式置放於凹槽258內,該專利之揭示內容以引用之方式併入本文。檢修蓋264關閉開口256且在每一轉接器232內緊固該等元件。
現參看圖36至41,擋板244定位於每一轉接器232之前端236中的前開口266內以提供保護而免於意外曝露於光下。類似於擋板244之擋板描述於2003年11月12日公開之PCT公告第WO 03/093889A1號中,其揭示內容以引用之方式併入本文。擋板244滑入外殼部分246中之槽268內。貼片270自擋板244延伸且嚙合貼片凹槽272以將擋板244保持於每一轉接器232內之適當位置。雖然擋板244對於轉接器232連接光纖電纜之功能而言並不重要,但需要提供保護以免於可對工人或其它設備造成傷害的意外光學訊號曝露。較佳地,擋板244不嚙合插入於每一轉接器232中的連接器之套圈。實情為,連接器外殼將擋板244向旁邊推開。
圖42說明了轉接器總成222,其中檢修蓋264已移除以展示凹槽258內每一轉接器232之元件。
圖43展示了分束器模組202,其具有用於嚙合底盤204內安裝位置206之槽228的側凸緣230。連接器226安裝至一定位於模組主體280之前部276與後部278之間的插入隔框274。螺釘罩蓋凸緣282自主體280之一對面284中的一者延伸且閂鎖42自另一面284延伸。當模組202安裝於底盤204內時,凸緣282在轉接器總成222之螺釘252上延伸。此防止了 在模組202安裝於安裝位置206處時轉接器總成222之移除或螺釘252之鬆動。電纜出口44允許光纖自主體280內通過前部276使得光纖可延伸穿過電纜結構220且延伸至其它電信設備。

現參看圖45至51,模組202包括鄰近前部276之全深部分306(連接器226將進入之光纖引導至該全深部分306)及始於鄰近連接器226且延伸至後部278的部分深度部分308。可安裝至模組202之連接器226的數目不允許面284朝彼此移動,從而減小了內部286之寬度,而未太顯著地侵佔內部286內之電纜布線空間。使部分深度部分308自後部278延伸至連接器226允許轉接器與主體280重疊,此在上述模組14之情況下係不可能的。減小之深度確實減小了內部286之體積但並未不利地影響內部286內之彎曲半徑要求。變化段310提供了部分306與308之深度之間的平滑流。平滑變化段可為吾人所要的以減小光纖可與之接觸的內部286內之任何銳角,且亦可允許更容易地形成或建構主體280。
在模組202中,連接器226定位於主體280之頂部競爭佔據面積內,意即在面284之間,且其亦自模組202之最後面之延伸部分(意即後部278)插入。
模組202經組態使得一旦轉接器總成222已定位且連接至電纜,該等模組202即可自前部安裝於底盤204內而不需接取任何後部連接件。至電纜及連接至轉接器總成222之後端234的連接器的接取可藉由解除螺釘252而將該等總成推動經過底盤204之前部214來提供,使得可接取此等連接器以進行檢測或清潔。

Claims (13)

  1. 一種光纖轉接器模組,其包含:一單一主體,其具有形成為一整體單元之一外殼部分及一安裝部分;該外殼部分包括複數個與該外殼部分形成為整體單元的轉接器;每一轉接器包括一檢修口、一前開口及一後開口,該前開口及該後開口經組態以收納光纖連接器並與其配合且光學地連接被插入於該前開口及該後開口中的光纖連接器;用於每一轉接器之內部外殼組件及一套圈對準套管;該檢修口定位於該前開口與該後開口之間且經設定尺寸以允許該等內部外殼組件及該套圈對準套管定位於該轉接器內之該前開口與該後開口之間;該安裝部分經組態以將該單一主體安裝於該底盤內且將該外殼部分定位於鄰近該底盤之一面使轉接器可經由該底盤上之一前開口及一後開口接取。
  2. 如請求項1之光纖轉接器模組,其中一面板定位於每一轉接器之該檢修口內且將該等內部外殼組件及該套圈對準套管固持於該轉接器內。
  3. 如請求項1之光纖轉接器模組,其中每一轉接器包括一可移動擋板,其安裝於該前開口內且阻斷光使其不會自該後開口經由該前開口透射。
  4. 如請求項3之光纖轉接器模組,其中每一可移動擋板安裝 於一鄰近該等轉接器中之一者之前開口的槽內。
  5. 如請求項4之光纖轉接器模組,其中該可移動擋板藉由該擋板之一貼片而被固持於該槽內,其中該貼片嚙合鄰近該槽之該外殼部分中的一貼片開口。
  6. 如請求項1之光纖轉接器模組,其中四個轉接器被包括於該外殼部分中。
  7. 如請求項1之光纖轉接器模組,其中該安裝部分包括一相對於該外殼部分延伸之凸緣,該凸緣包括一用於將該轉接器模組安裝於該底盤內的可解除扣件。
  8. 如請求項7之光纖轉接器模組,其中該可解除扣件為一藉由該安裝部分之該凸緣而被繫留地固持之蝶形螺釘。
  9. 一種光纖轉接器總成,其包含:一單一主體,其具有與該主體形成為一整體單元的一外殼部分,該外殼部分包括複數個與該外殼部分形成為整體單元的轉接器;每一轉接器包括一檢修口、一前開口及一後開口,該前開口及該後開口經組態以收納光纖連接器並與其配合且光學地連接被插入於該前開口及該後開口中的光纖連接器;用於每一轉接器之內部外殼組件及一套圈對準套管;該檢修口定位於該前開口與該後開口之間且經設定尺寸以允許該等內部外殼組件及該套圈對準套管定位於該轉接器內之該前開口與該後開口之間;一面板,其定位於每一轉接器之該檢修口內且將該等 內部外殼組件及該套圈對準套管固持於該轉接器內;每一轉接器包括一可移動擋板,其安裝於該前開口內且阻斷光使其不會自該後開口經由該前開口透射。
  10. 如請求項9之光纖轉接器總成,其中每一可移動擋板安裝於一鄰近該等轉接器中之一者之該前開口的槽內。
  11. 如請求項10之光纖轉接器總成,其中該可移動擋板藉由該擋板之一貼片而被固持於該槽內,其中該貼片嚙合鄰近該槽之該外殼部分中的一貼片開口。
  12. 如請求項9之光纖轉接器總成,其中四個轉接器被包括於該外殼部分中。
  13. 一種光纖轉接器總成,包含:一外殼,其界定複數個與該外殼形成為一整體單元的轉接器,該外殼界定一頂部、一底部及在該頂部與底部之間延伸的第一與第二橫向面,該外殼包括在其頂部的一安裝滑桿,其用以可滑移的導引該轉接器總成進入電信設備的一部份;該安裝滑桿包括用以固持一安裝扣件的一凸緣,該安裝扣件於該外殼之一前部朝該外殼之一後部的一方向上延伸,該安裝扣件係可相對於該外殼而圍繞該安裝扣件之一縱向軸線旋轉;該外殼之每一轉接器包括用於收納一第一光纖連接器的一前開口,用於收納適於與該第一光纖連接器配合的一第二光纖連接器的一後開口,及用以收納一套圈對準套管及內半殼的一側開口;以及 該外殼包括封閉至少一該轉接器之該側開口的一面板,其用以將該套圈對準套管及該內半殼固持於該轉接器內。
