Abstract

Description

電纜連接器
本發明大體上係關於用以將電纜連接至各種電子裝置(諸如電視、天線、視訊轉換盒及類似裝置)之電纜連接器(例如同軸電纜連接器)之領域。更明確而言，本發明係關於一種電纜連接器，其具有有助於維持通過該連接器之一導電路徑之特徵。

參考圖2至圖4，圖中展示根據一例示性實施例之一連接器20。連接器20經組態以耦合至一同軸電纜10之端部，且包含可帶螺紋或可不帶螺紋之一連接器本體22(例如一套環、本體部分等等)、一套筒24(例如鎖定套筒、壓縮套筒、可壓縮構件等等)及一緊固件28(例如螺母、六角螺母、F型介面、RCA介面、BNC介面等等)。連接器20進一步包含設置在本體22、鎖定套筒24及緊固件28之一或多者內之一柱26(參閱圖3至圖4)。連接器20可包含一或多個密封構件60(例如O形環、彈性O形環、導電O形環等等)及一或多個可壓縮構件。在一些實施例中，可沿一徑向及/或軸向方向壓縮一或多個密封構件60(例如介於緊固件28與本體22之間)；在其他實施例中，可不壓縮一或多個密封構件60。在一實施例中，連接器20經組態以用在75歐姆RF同軸系統中。在其他實施例中，連接器20可經組態以用在具有其他特性阻抗(例如50歐姆、93歐姆等等)之RF同軸系統中。
連接器本體22可由可經鑄造、擠出或機械加工之一金屬材料(諸如鋁或銅)製成。在其他實施例中，連接器本體22可由聚合物、另一材料或材料之組合製成。連接器本體22為一大體圓柱體，其包含具有一內徑之一第一端部30(例如後端、電纜接納端等等)，該內徑經定尺寸以接納外套18之外徑且留有一小量額外空間。

連接器本體22具有一相對第二端部40(例如，前端部、向前端部等等)。第二端部40係可操作地耦合至柱26及緊固件28。柱26及緊固件28可至少部分由一導電材料形成。根據一例示性實施例，柱26及緊固件28係由可經鑄造、擠出或機械加工之一金屬材料(諸如鋁或銅)形成。根據其他例示性實施例，柱26及緊固件28係由另一適合材料(諸如一導電聚合物)形成。
柱26可包含用於牢固柱26與緊固件28及/或連接器本體22之間之一軸向關係之一凸緣42。凸緣42接觸連接器本體22之第二端部40以限制柱26相對於連接器本體22之移動。柱26亦可包含被接納在連接器本體22中之一環形延伸部44。一環形腔室46係形成於延伸部44與連接器本體22之間以接納同軸電纜10之外導體16及外套18。根據一例示性實施例，環形延伸部44之遠端包含一向外延伸之傾斜凸緣部分或「倒鉤」48以迫使同軸電纜10之外導體16及外套18進入環形腔室46且有助於使同軸電纜10保持在連接器本體22中。
根據一例示性實施例，連接器20可進一步包含用於提供 緊固件28與連接器本體22之間之一密封之一密封構件60。密封構件60減小水分、碎屑或其他非所欲材料進入連接器20之內部(例如環形腔室46)之可能性。根據一例示性實施例，密封構件60為沿一徑向方向被壓縮於連接器本體22與緊固件28之間之一O形環。在其他例示性實施例中，密封構件60可為另一彈性體，諸如與連接器本體22或緊固件28一體形成或與連接器本體22或緊固件28耦合之一墊圈或一彈性材料。
緊固件28係可旋轉地耦合至連接器本體22之第二端部40。緊固件28可包含一向內延伸肩部或凸緣62。藉由使緊固件28之凸緣62與柱26之凸緣42接觸而限制緊固件28沿相對於連接器本體22及柱26之一向前方向之軸向移動。
緊固件28可包含用於有助於緊固件28相對於連接器本體22之旋轉之各種特徵。例如，根據各種例示性實施例，緊固件28可包括一個六角螺母、一翼形螺母、具有用於手指擰緊之一滾花表面之一螺母、具有一包覆成型特徵之一螺母(參閱圖15至圖16)或另一適合緊固件。緊固件28經組態以提供用於將連接器20耦合至一電子或其他裝置之端子之一元件或總成。根據一例示性實施例，緊固件28包含具有內螺紋66之一中心孔或空腔，內螺紋66接合該裝置(例如一埠)及/或另一連接器或耦合裝置之一端子之螺紋。
如圖14中所展示，根據一例示性實施例，內螺紋66可具有一減小中徑120(例如小於0.3556英寸)以獲得一更緊配合螺紋，其中螺紋與裝置、連接器或耦合裝置上之埠或端子 之配接螺紋接合內螺紋66。根據一例示性實施例，螺紋66具有小於0.3556英寸之一中徑。在一特定實施例中，內螺紋66具有約0.3547英寸之一中徑。更緊配合螺紋連接可改良緊固件28之螺紋連接之屏蔽效益。
根據另一實施例，減少內螺紋66之每英寸螺紋數(TPI)122(例如小於32 TPI)以增大內螺紋66與接合內螺紋66之裝置、連接器或耦合裝置上之埠或端子之螺紋始終接觸之可能性。可類似地減少螺紋66之數目以避免損壞配接螺紋。根據一例示性實施例，螺紋66具有32 TPI至30 TPI之一節距。根據一特定實施例，在一節距介於31 TPI至32 TPI之間時，緊固件28可包含最少三個全螺紋66且不超過四個全螺紋66。在一實施例中，緊固件28可具有含一減小中徑與一減小TPI兩者之螺紋66。在一些實施例中，包含具有一減小中徑及/或一減小TPI之一緊固件之連接器亦可包含一可壓縮構件，其經組態以抵著該緊固件而施加一力以壓迫該緊固件與該連接器之一柱接觸。
如圖17所展示，根據另一實施例，可藉由在緊固件28之螺紋66(例如內螺紋)上設置比形成於埠連接器140之螺紋上之每單元長度(例如每英寸)標準螺紋少之每單位長度(例如每節距)螺紋而實現螺紋之失配。明確而言，典型埠連接器140可形成有一標準3/8-32外螺紋142。此意謂外螺紋142具有每英寸32個螺紋。因此，可藉由形成具有(例如)每英寸30個螺紋之緊固件28之內螺紋66而產生螺紋66與142之間之一干涉配合。使用此等值，可明白在最向後螺紋之區 域中產生0.002英寸之一干涉配合。該干涉導致緊固件28抵抗「卸下(backing off)」或鬆脫且提供防止水分遷移之一密封。
在一第一位置中，緊固件28之凸緣62接觸柱26之凸緣42以經由凸緣42上之環形接觸表面68及凸緣62上之環形接觸表面69(例如內表面)而形成一導電路徑。在一第二位置中，沿相對於柱26之一向後方向移動緊固件28之凸緣62以中斷緊固件28與柱26之間之該導電路徑。一可壓縮構件(例如彈簧元件、可撓性元件、可壓縮材料等等)經設置以沿向前方向將一力(例如一連續壓力)施加至緊固件28(例如遠離連接器本體22之第一端部30)且維持表面68與69之間之接觸。可沿一線性方向、軸向方向、徑向方向等等壓縮該可壓縮構件。雖然該可壓縮構件迫使緊固件28沿一向前方向，但在該第一位置中，能夠旋轉緊固件28以將連接器20耦合至一電子裝置之端子。根據一例示性實施例，施加至少約1/2磅之一力以維持表面68與69之間之接觸。
根據一例示性實施例，在緊固件28被完全擰緊(即，經擰緊以達25英寸/磅至30英寸/磅之一扭矩，如電纜電信工程師協會所推薦)及通過緊固件28之3或4轉(例如密封以防止出埠)之條件下，由可壓縮構件施加在緊固件28上之力足以維持表面68與69之間之接觸。雖然可壓縮構件係受壓縮(例如，抵著緊固件28之凸緣62及本體22之凸緣64而施加一反向相等力)，但信號可連續穿過緊固件28之一前表面平面。電及RF信號可在緊固件28之旋轉期間穿過緊固件 28。在一些實施例中，存在公與母連接器之一略微(角度)中心線未對準(例如垂直於兩個參考面)以防止信號損失(例如入埠及出埠)。在一些實施例中，可壓縮構件可施加一力以導致緊固件28之凸緣62接觸柱26之凸緣42，其中該等凸緣之間之一間隙或空隙小於0.012標稱英寸。在一些實施例中，可壓縮構件可將一力施加至處於第一位置與第二位置兩者之緊固件28。在一些實施例中，可壓縮構件之至少一部分可沿一軸向方向及一徑向方向之一或兩者置於緊固件28之外部。可壓縮構件可與螺紋66之一或多個修改方案(如上所述)一起使用以進一步改良柱26與緊固件28之導電耦合。
如圖2至圖4中所展示，根據一例示性實施例，可壓縮構件包括設置在緊固件28與連接器本體22之間之一可撓性墊圈或波形彈簧70。一凹口係形成於連接器本體22之一向外對向表面65(例如至少部分背向連接器之一中心點、至少部分背向本體及/或柱之一縱向軸、沿一軸向及/或徑向方向至少部分背向本體及/或柱等等)、緊固件28之向後端部72與連接器本體22之一凸緣或向前對向表面64之間。波形彈簧70被壓縮於緊固件28之向後端部72與連接器本體22之凸緣64之間以沿向前方向將一力施加至緊固件28以使緊固件28遠離連接器本體22且抵著柱26。在一些實施例中，波形彈簧70可經組態以將一實質上連續壓力施加至緊固件28以促使緊固件28與柱26實質上連續實體及電接觸。在其他實施例中，波形彈簧70可代以為另一適合彈簧裝置，諸如 一螺旋形盤簧、一錐形彈簧等等。
現參考圖5至圖6，根據另一例示性實施例，可壓縮構件包括一O形環80。在一些實施例中，O形環80可不被徑向壓縮於連接器本體22與緊固件28之間。O形環80被接納在凸緣62與連接器本體22之一環形突出部分(或向前對向表面)82之間之一間隙中。O形環80之未經壓縮直徑大於凸緣62與環形突出部分82之間之該間隙之寬度以沿一軸向方向(例如，自前至後、平行於縱向軸等等)壓縮O形環80且迫使緊固件28沿一向前方向遠離連接器本體22並抵著柱26。雖然可壓縮構件展示為具有一圓形橫截面之一O形環，但在其他例示性實施例中，可以其他方式形成可壓縮構件。例如，在其他例示性實施例中，可壓縮構件可為具有另一橫截面(例如方形、X形、矩形、卵形等等)之一O形環。在其他例示性實施例中，可壓縮構件可與連接器本體22或緊固件28一體形成(例如經共同模製、經包覆成型、經噴射等等)。根據一例示性實施例，緊固件28包含實質上覆蓋O形環80之自凸緣62向後延伸之一環形突起84。參考圖13，根據另一例示性實施例，緊固件28可經組態使得緊固件28不沿一軸向及/或徑向方向之至少一者覆蓋或包圍O形環80。在一些實施例中，本體22之一部分可經組態以疊蓋、覆蓋及/或包圍O形環80之至少一部分。

現參考圖15至圖16，根據另一例示性實施例，可壓縮構件包括設置在緊固件28與連接器本體22之間之一錐形彈簧130。錐形彈簧130被壓縮於緊固件28之向後端部72與連接 器本體22之凸緣64之間以沿向前方向將一力施加至緊固件28以使緊固件28遠離連接器本體22並抵著柱26。
藉由設置一可壓縮元件以沿向前方向將一軸向力施加至緊固件28而維持經由接觸表面68及69之緊固件28與柱26之間之一更一致表面與表面接觸。以此方式，維持外導體16與經由連接器20而與電纜10耦合之一裝置之間之更一致導電路徑(例如一接地路徑)。表面68與69之間之改良接觸亦可提供電力接合及接地(例如有助於促進依據NEC®(美國電工法規)條款250之一更安全接合連接)。緊固件28與柱26之間之改良導電接觸進一步改良RF屏蔽(例如信號入埠及出埠)。

Claims (21)

  1. 一種電纜連接器，其包括：一本體，其具有一向前端部及與該向前端部相對之一向後端部，該向後端部經組態以接納一電纜；一柱，其至少部分佈置在該本體內且包括自該柱之一向前端部徑向延伸之一凸緣部分；一緊固件，其耦合至該本體之該向前端部且經組態以接合一配接連接器，其中該緊固件可軸向移動於一向前位置與一向後位置之間，且其中該緊固件包括經組態以在該緊固件處於該向前位置時接觸該柱之該凸緣部分之一內表面；及一可壓縮構件，其佈置在該本體之一外表面上且經組態以迫使該緊固件朝向該向前位置使得在該緊固件處於該向前位置時該緊固件之該內表面提供抵著該柱之該凸緣之一連續壓力。
  2. 如請求項1之電纜連接器，其中該可壓縮構件包括佈置在該緊固件鄰近處之該本體之一向外對向凹口內之一可撓性墊圈，其中該可撓性墊圈經組態以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向將一力施加在該緊固件上。
  3. 如請求項1之電纜連接器，其中該可壓縮構件包括佈置在該緊固件與該本體之間之一環形基座元件，其中該環形基座元件經組態以接觸該本體之一向外對向肩部，且其中該可壓縮構件進一步包括自該環形基座元件延伸且接觸該緊固件之至少一楔形可撓性部分，且其中該楔形 可撓性部分經組態以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向將一力施加在該緊固件上。
  4. 如請求項1之電纜連接器，其中該可壓縮構件包括佈置在該緊固件之一第一表面與該本體之一第二表面之間之一間隙中之一O形環，其中該第一表面與該第二表面之間之該間隙具有一間隙長度，且其中該O形環在處於一未經壓縮狀態時之一直徑大於該間隙長度，使得該O形環沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向將一力施加在該緊固件上。
  5. 如請求項1之電纜連接器，其中該可壓縮構件包括具有一平坦伸長內表面之一彈性元件，其中該彈性元件係佈置在該緊固件之一外表面之至少一部分上，其中該彈性元件被壓縮於該本體與處於該向前位置與該向後位置兩者之該緊固件之間且經組態以將一力施加在該緊固件上以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向壓迫該緊固件。

  10. 如請求項1之電纜連接器，其中該連續壓力包括至少0.5磅之一壓力。
  11. 一種同軸電纜連接器，其包括：一連接器本體，其具有一向前端部及與該向前端部相對之一向後端部，該向後端部經組態以接納一同軸電纜；一環形柱，其至少部分佈置在該連接器本體內且包括自該環形柱之一向前端部徑向延伸之一凸緣部分；及一緊固件，其耦合至該本體之該向前端部且經組態以接合一配接連接器，其中該緊固件可軸向移動於一向前位置與一向後位置之間，且其中該緊固件包括經組態以在該緊固件處於該向前位置時接觸該柱之該凸緣部分之一內表面；及一彈簧元件，其佈置在該緊固件與該連接器本體之一外表面之間，其中該彈簧元件經組態以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向將一力施加在該緊固件上使得：若無沿一向後方向之另一力施加在該緊固件上，則該緊固件之該內表面與該柱之該凸緣保持實質上連續接觸。
  12. 如請求項11之同軸電纜連接器，其中該彈簧元件包括佈置在該緊固件與該連接器本體之該外表面之間之一可撓性墊圈。
  13. 如請求項11之同軸電纜連接器，其中該彈簧元件包括佈 置在該緊固件與該連接器本體之一外表面之間之複數個楔形可撓性元件，其中該等楔形可撓性元件之各者包括使該楔形可撓性元件圍繞其彎曲之一頂點，該頂點之一側上之一第一側經組態以接觸該緊固件，且該頂點之另一側上之一第二側經組態以接觸該連接器本體，其中該等楔形可撓性元件經組態以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向將壓縮力施加在該緊固件上。
  14. 如請求項13之同軸電纜連接器，其中該緊固件包括一個六角螺母部分，其中該彈簧元件包括六個楔形可撓性元件，該等楔形可撓性元件之各者經組態以在與該六角螺母部分之一不同邊緣鄰近之一位置處接觸該緊固件。
  15. 如請求項11之同軸電纜連接器，其中該連接器本體包括一第一徑向延伸肩部且該緊固件包括與該第一肩部相對之一第二肩部，其中該彈簧元件被壓縮於該第一肩部與該第二肩部之間。

  18. 一種同軸電纜連接器，其包括：一連接器本體，其具有一向前端部及與該向前端部相對之一向後端部，該向後端部經組態以接納一同軸電纜； 一環形柱，其至少部分佈置在該連接器本體內且包括自該環形柱之一向前端部徑向延伸之一凸緣部分；一緊固件，其耦合至該本體之該向前端部且經組態以接合一配接連接器，其中該緊固件可軸向移動於一向前位置與一向後位置之間，且其中該緊固件包括經組態以在該緊固件處於該向前位置時接觸該柱之該凸緣部分之一內表面；及一彈性元件，其具有一平坦伸長內表面，其中該彈性元件係佈置在該緊固件之一外表面之至少一部分上，其中該彈性元件被壓縮於該本體與處於該向前位置與該向後位置兩者之該緊固件之間且經組態以將力施加在該緊固件上以沿朝向該向前位置之一向前方向壓迫該緊固件。
  19. 如請求項18之同軸電纜連接器，其中該連接器本體包括一第一徑向延伸肩部且該緊固件包括與該第一肩部相對之一第二肩部，其中包覆成型元件被壓縮於該第一肩部與該第二肩部之間。
