Abstract
1480475 Expanding-pulley gear GHIELMETTI AG 29 Nov 1974 [11 Dec 1973] 51709/74 Heading F2D A transmission between a motor 1 and a reduction gear 9 which supports the motor through bars 15 comprises a Vee belt 3 and expanding pulleys 5, 6 and 7, 8 of which the flange 5 nearer the motor of the driving pulley and the flange 8 further from the reduction gear of the driven pulley are axially adjustable, the two pulleys being of substantially identical construction with the halves 5, 7 fixed respectively to the axially adjustable shaft 4 of the motor and to the input shaft of the reduction gear, and the two halves of each pulley being biased towards each other by spring means 2, 2a which may be pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical. The half 6 of the driving pulley is supported by a bearing in a fixed bracket 10. As shown, the entire motor 1, which may be an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic motor, is movable to adjust the pulley 5, 6 by a screw and nut mechanism 13, 14 operated by a knob 11, but in modifications the motor shaft only, or one part of a telescopic shaft, is axially adjustable. The means for axially adjusting the pulley half 5 may be mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electro-magnetic.
