Abstract
951,321. Toothed gearing. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. Jan. 2, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 209/63. Heading F2Q. In gearing for the travel mechanism of a radio telescope, reduction gears 9, 8, 7, 6 and 5 are mounted in a U- shaped frame 14 which is adjustably located within a split casing 1, 2 by means of wedges 16, 17 in order to adjust the centre distance between the gear 5 and a driven gear 4 which is non-adjustably mounted in the casing 2. The U-shaped frame 14, which may be in three parts, is preferably sub-divided in the plane of the gearing, the two parts being held together by dowel pins 20 and located in the correspondingly shaped parting joint 15 of the casing 1, 2. The wedges 16, 17 are provided with adjusting screws 18, and after the adjustment for minimum backlash has been made the U-shaped frame 14 is secured to the casing part 2 by bolts 19. A driving electric motor 13 is connected to a flange 21 which has a spigoted connection with the frame 14 and is adjustably secured to the casing. In a modification, the input shaft 12 is located at a point B.
