Abstract

1,117,521. Motor driving arrangements. LESLIE HARTRIDGE Ltd. 12 April, 1966 [13 April, 1965], No. 15824/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F2] A variable-speed expanding V-belt pulley gear, for bench testing I.C. engine fuel and feed pumps 10, is entirely supported by the shaft 28 and casing 34 of the electric driving motor 30, to form a unit readily-removable from the test bench. The driving pulley 26 and spring- loaded driven pulley 22 are mounted respectively on the motor shaft 28 and a bracket support 36, 50, 52 secured cantilever fashion to the motor casing 34 by a pair of inverted V- yokes 38, 40 bolted at 42 into a tapped hole 46, usually provided in the motor casing for a lifting eye-bolt, or, one or more additional tapped holes therein. Control of the pulley gear is effected by a lever 54 having a nut 62 at one end moved by a threaded rod 58 manually operated by a handle 60, one or both flanges of the driving and driven pulleys being axially movable to effect ratio change. Drive to the test pump 10 is via a plain belt drive 16 driven from the spindle 20 of the expanding pulley 22.
