989,815. Cables. L. A. BONDON. May 22, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 19715/62. Heading H1A. In an insulated electrical conductor as disclosed in Specification 909,343, formed by laying a number of insulating rods or tubes 14 about a conductor 13 in a tightly packed array, compressed within an outer jacket 12, the tubes are provided along their whole length with transverse notches 15, to minimize the effective dielectric constant of the insulation. The insulating tubes may be of e.g., polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, P.V.C., natural or synthetic rubber, and vinyl polymers and copolymers of which examples are given; they may also be of foamed material such as rubber, polyethylenes and polyurethanes, or of glass fibres impregnated with the above-mentioned synthetic resins which may additionally contain silicone or silicone rubber.
