Abstract

722,591. Cables. SOC. ANON. DE TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Jan. 30, 1953, No. 2806/53. Class 36. [Also in Group V] An insulating tube 6 is extruded around a conductor 1, the tube being constricted at intervals, so as to grip the conductor and form sealed cells. The insulating material, which may be polyethylene or polystyrene, may be mixed with a pore-forming substance such as a gas under pressure or a gas-producing material. Various types of constriction, such as 15, 16, may be produced. Conductors thus insulated may be stranded together to form pairs or quads or may form the central conductors of coaxial cables. In another form, Fig. 9, the constrictions are so formed that the diameter d of the extruded tube is smaller than the diameter D of a subsequently applied coaxial return conductor, and preferably d=0.75D.
