Abstract
1468213 Electric cables RELIANCE (CORDS & CABLES) Ltd 19 May 1975 [22 May 1974] 22899/74 Heading H1A [Also in Division B5] In the manufacture of a cable 10, an extruded tubular sheath of polyethylene, or p.t.f.e. insulating material is spaced around an electrical conductor 21 by one, two, or more, helical elements 25 of the material simultaneously extruded (see Divisions B4-B5), from a different orifice of the same die as the tubular sheath, into contact with the sheath and conductor. The element 25 may be bonded to, or merely contact the sheath 16, and may follow a path which is constant or varies, e.g. in a random manner. The cable 10 provided with the sheath and element may form part of a telecommunication co-axial cable, on being provided, in a subsequent operation, with an outer electrical conductor around which a further insulating layer, or layers, may be provided. Alternatively, the cable 10 may comprise part of a multiple cable in which a plurality of the cables 10 are provided with an outer insulating sheath.
