Abstract

1418554 Ropes WIRE ROPE INDUSTRIES LTD 3 July 1973 31617/73 Heading D1T [Also in Division H1] A hoisting rope has a core 10 surrounded by a plurality of strands 11, each strand 11 comprising a unitary solid electrical conductor 12, a single layer of insulating material 13 covering the conductor 12, and a plurality of steel wires 14 helically wound directly about said single layer of insulating material. The core 10 may be of fibre or steel. The conductor 12 may be of copper or aluminium wire. The insulation 13 may be polytetrafluoroethylene, neoprene, polypropylene, polyethylene or wrapping insulating tape. As shown each insulated conductor 12 is surrounded by one row of steel wires 14 but it may also be surrounded by a plurality of superimposed rows of steel wires.
