Abstract

1,207,487. Caps for containers. METAL CLOSURES Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967 [30 Nov., 1966], No. 53701/66. Heading B8T. A cap made of a ductile metal has a thin shell 5 which includes a cylindrical portion 10, convex portions 11 and 14 and a security band 15, the members 10 and 15 being re-formed to engage a threaded portion 2 and a rib 4 of a bottle neck respectively when the cap is in position on the neck. An interrupted slit line 16, delimiting the band 15, creates a number of bridges which are put into tension when members 10 and 15 are re-formed. Sections 11 and 14 aid in reducing extra tension on the bridges when the closure and container are handled.
