Abstract

1,011,692. Container closures. AMERICAN FLANGE & MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. Nov. 5, 1963 [Nov. 5, 1962], No. 43710/63. Heading B8T. In a container closure assembly comprising a threaded flange member 1, a plug 2 and a cap-seal 3, the flange member is held in position within an upstanding neck 21 surrounding an opening of the container, by a polygonal crosssectional configuration formed on the outside of an outwardly tapered portion 8 of the flange member registering with a matching configuration formed on the inside of the neck 21 and by a portion 7 of the flange member engaging a doubled-over, outwardly and upwardly extending portion 23 of the neck. The plug threadedly engages the flange member and the cap-seal is crimped into position to complete the closure. The polygonal configurations have a slight upward and outward incline. Gaskets 4, 31 and 17 are held between the cap-seal and the flange member, the flange member and the neck, and the flange member and the plug respectively. The entire assembly may be made of metal.
