Abstract
1,236,637. Container closure assembly. AMERICAN FLANGE & MFG. CO. Inc. 12 July, 1968 [22 Aug., 1967], No. 33368/68. Heading B8T. In a closure construction comprising a plug receiving flange 2 moulded of plastics material (Fig. 1), a metal securing ring 20 having an inner portion 21 (Fig. 3), and a closure plug 30 moulded of plastics material (Fig. 2), the closure plug, when threadedly engaged with the receiving flange, forces a wall portion 18 against the metal securing ring 20. The annulus of the receiving flange 3 terminates at its lower end in a weakened tearing strip section 6. A pocket 10 receives the pull member 9 when plug 30 is united with the receiving flange. The top surface of plug 30 has four finger engaging recesses (37, 38), Fig. 3 (not shown). In a modification, plug 30 has an internally threaded neck 39, Fig. 6 (not shown), terminating at its lower end in a cut-out diaphragm 40. A plug is designed to fit in the neck 39.
