Abstract

1361365 Safety closure; tamperproof closure LE BOUCHAGE MECANIQUE 2 Aug 1972 [3 Aug 1971] 36123/72 Heading B8T A cap 12 (Fig. 3) screws on an externally threaded tubular member 4 (Figs. 1 and 2) a lug 10 formed in an upwardly open channel 9 around the bottom of the member 4 engages in an opening 18 in the side wall of the cap. The assembled cap and member 4 are pushed on to the container neck and are retained by the lip 1 which fits between the top of member 4 and the top wall of the cap or by the engagement of an inwardly directed lip on the member 4 in a groove around the container neck (Fig. 7, not shown). To unscrew the cap the wall 8 of the channel 9 must first be depressed to displace the lug 10 from the opening 18. A tamperproof band may be provided between the bottom 7 of the channel 9 and a ridge 2 on the container so that the wall 8 cannot be depressed until this band is removed. The tamperproof band may be manufactured as part of the member 4, joined to it by a line of weakness.
