Sound reproducing apparatus comprises a casing supporting at least a medium frequency sound radiator and a multidirectional high frequency sound radiator, each sound radiator having at least one mouth through which sound is emitted, said casing being adapted to be placed closely adjacent a vertical wall of a listening room with the medium frequency sound radiator closer to the wall than the high frequency sound radiator and with at least one mouth of the high frequency sound radiator spaced from the wall by a distance of at least 0À3 metre and directed towards the wall. The top wall 7 (Fig. 1) of a loudspeaker casing carries a medium frequency sound radiator consisting of a direct radiator loudspeaker unit 6L, the centre of the unit 6L being approximately 0À15 metre from a vertical wall 2 of a listening room. A high frequency sound radiator consists of four direct radiator loudspeaker units 8, 9 mounted on the wall 7 with their fronts oriented cross-wise and slightly upwards. Units 8 face the vertical wall 2 from a distance of about 0À5 metre while units 9 face the listening area. A low frequency loudspeaker unit 10L is mounted in the bottom wall 4 of the casing near vertical wall 2 and cooperates with acoustic tubes 11R which radiate mainly in the lowest octave of the frequency range. A driving amplifier 12 has a frequency response curve such that the frequency response of the entire system is flat. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2) side walls 13<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>11</SP> are also equipped with loudspeaker units 61, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP> and 6<SP>11</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP>, 9<SP>11</SP>. A simpler embodiment utilizes a single loudspeaker unit 16L (Fig. 3) for the low and medium frequency ranges. Two high frequency units 8 face, crosswise, the vertical wall 2 and one high frequency unit 9 faces the listening area. Units 8, 9 may be carried on stands to increase their distance from the floor 1 or the casing may be provided with legs to carry the whole apparatus at an increased distance from the floor.
