Abstract

891,014. Stereophonic systems. DECCA RECORD CO. Ltd. Aug. 17, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 28339/59. Class 40 (4). In stereophonic sound-reproducing apparatus comprising a cabinet containing two groups of identical loud-speakers symmetrically arranged about a vertical plane extending forwardly from the cabinet, one speaker 17 of each group directs the sound inwardly towards the plane and forwardly, and a second speaker 20 directs the sound forwardly either away from or parallel to the plane or at a more acute angle to the plane than the first speaker. Each group may include a speaker 21 located further from the plane than speaker 17 and arranged to direct sound in a direction parallel to the plane or in a direction extending inwardly towards the plane at an angle less than 30 degrees. The speakers 17, 20, 21 are at different heights and direct the sound horizontally. Further speakers 22, 23 and 24 are similarly arranged but direct the sound upwardly at an angle of about 20 degrees. Below these speakers are one or more bass speakers 15, each provided with a resonant chamber 16.
