[Also in Group XXXVIII] In a loud-speaker arrangement particularly for use in stereophonic reproduction, the loudspeaker 1 is placed below a reflector 2 with its vertical axis 4 passing through the focus of the reflector which is formed by rotating a portion of a parabola about a vertical axis, this giving rise to a convex horizontal cross-section gradually decreasing in width from top to bottom (Fig. 4). This results in a reflected beam having an angle of aperture # in the vertical sense smaller than the incident beam's angle of aperture 2 (Fig. 1) for all frequencies, especially those above 1100 c/s. The angle of aperture of the reflected beam, in the horizontal sense, is larger than α.
